This game from Thunderkick has one of the best starts of any slot - Bork the Berserker breaking down a wall to the accompaniment of loud music and eventually standing in front of the player brandishing a spiked club. It would be scary if Bork did not look so completely nuts; as it is, he is almost comical. Another wall appears, and he smashes through this one too. It must be a wall thing. A berserker was a champion fighter in ancient Norse legend who fought with extreme aggression and appeared as though in a trance. You may have seen plenty of these outside the pubs on a Saturday night. Is Bork truly a berserker or just a plain berk? The slot looks completely different to most others. The play area is a grid inside a vibrant background with rising flames. When it comes to the creatures that you will encounter in the game, the developers have let rip. There is one with three eyes and horns, a snake with two heads, a fish-like creature that appears to be walking, and something else with blue tentacles. There are also a terrified maiden and a wizard. Bork regularly goes berserk to fell his enemies, and the soundtrack ramps up with him. This is certainly entertaining. Read our full review below.
Never mind scatter, run for your lifeYou have five reels and 25 paylines, which can’t be changed; however, you pay per spin - not per payline - that you want included, so bets can be cheaper than in some other slots. Wins start with three symbols in a row, counting from the left. The terrified running maiden is worth a lot - see her five times along a row and you get paid 50 times your bet. The wild monsters pay the next highest prizes - see the paytable for details.
Free spinsThe scatter activates a free spins round, as does the purple demon. The number of free spins depends on the number of scatters you get. Three scatters award ten spins, while five scatters award 50 free spins. The free spins round starts with the damsel being dragged away by the purple demon, which Bork doesn’t like one bit. He gets quite cross and starts appearing a lot, so you get lots of wins.
Expanding wildsGet a fire symbol on the second, third or fourth reels - the middle ones - and the blaze spreads over the reel to give you plenty of wilds. The wizard represents the bonus symbol, with three wizards awarding you 10 extra spins and five wizards delivering 30. More bonus symbols get more spins. Quite rightly, Bork is the true wild. He also expands, taking over the whole of the reel he lands on. Once he starts slaying creatures, your rewards start flooding in.
Great for twiddlersYou can twiddle with nearly all the settings in Thunderkick's Bork the Berzerker. This feature is equally available on desktop, mobile and tablet, so you can tune Bork’s tantrums up or down depending on where you are.
