Live Roulette Overview

The modern game, however, has its roots in 18th-century France, where the mathematician Blaise Pascal built a perpetual motion machine and used the wheel and ball to carry out his experiments. This led to the development of the roulette wheel, and the 0 and 00 slots are believed to have been introduced in Paris in the late 18th century.

The game then spread across Europe and America in the 19th century, with each country developing its own variation, with the addition of the single 0 in the European version and the American version of the game having both the 0 and 00 pockets.

Game Controls of Live Roulette

The game controls of live roulette are as follows:

• To increase the stake in the game, select the plus and minus buttons next to the chip symbol
• To select a number, hover the mouse over your choice and the selection will be highlighted
• To change the game settings, like the sound effects and dealer voice, select the cog button
• Select the i button to see the rules of the game
• Select the special coin button to choose one of the special features
• When you are ready to play, select the spin button to launch the roulette wheel

How to Play Live Roulette

The basic premise of live roulette is that there are 37 pockets on the roulette wheel, numbered from 0 to 36. Every pocket is either red or black, except the green zero 0. The aim of the game is to try and guess where on the wheel the ball will land.

Decide Where to Place Your Bet

The first thing you need to do when playing live roulette is decide where to place your bet. We will go through the details of the different types of bet in the betting options section, but for now you basically need to decide on whether to place a bet on an exact number (either red or black), on several different numbers at the same time or on groups of numbers - called outside bets.

Where you actually place your chip is important too: you can either place it within the cell that the number is on or on the edge or the corner between the numbers. If you decide upon an outside bet, they have their own cells to place the bet on. It is also possible to place several different bets at the same time.

Change the Chip Value

There are six different chip values in the game: 1, 5, 10, 25, 50 and 100. To change the bet amount, all you need to do is to select the plus and minus arrows until you are happy with your choice. You cannot exceed the maximum bet of 100.

The Wheel Appears

When you have placed your bet and decided upon your chip value, you select the arrow button and the classic roulette wheel appears. The number or numbers you have chosen will be highlighted in blue so you can easily track them. The ball will then spin around the reel until it lands on the winning number.

How to Win

To win in live roulette, one of the numbers you have chosen must match with the winning number the ball lands on. If you are successful, the game will tell you how much you have won, but if you are unsuccessful, a ‘you lose’ message will be displayed.

Decide If You Want to Re-bet

There is also the chance to place a re-bet if you wish, and this can be done by selecting the re-bet button. The game will be replayed using exactly the same numbers.

Special Features

Live roulette by Pragmatic Play has a series of special bet features that can be placed in between spins. They are called the French betting combinations, with the option of Voisins Du Zéro, Tiers Du Cylindre, Orphelins En Plein and Orphelins à Cheval. These special bets are predefined, and they help to place bets in different locations.

Voisins Du Zéro

This feature adds 9 chips to the playing grid:

• 2 chips on three numbers: 0-2-3
• 1 chip on two numbers: 4-7
• 1 chip on two numbers: 12-15
• 1 chip on two numbers: 18-21
• 1 chip on two numbers: 19-22
• 2 chips on four numbers: 25-26-28-29
• 1 chip on two numbers: 32-35

Tiers Du Cylindre

This feature adds 6 chips:

• 1 chip on two numbers: 5-8
• 1 chip on two numbers: 10-11

• 1 chip on two numbers: 33-36

Orphelins En Plein

This option adds 8 chips:

This special option adds 5 extra chips:

Neighbour Bets

There is also the option to place neighbour bets. This is when you only select one number to bet on, and the chips are then placed in positions surrounding this.

The following payouts are available in live roulette:

• Bet on the exact number - 35:1
• Bet on two adjacent numbers - 17:1
• Bet on three consecutive numbers - 11:1
• Bet on three numbers, one of numbers is zero - 11:1
• Bet on four numbers - 8:1
• Bet on first four numbers - 8:1
• Bet on six consecutive numbers - 5:1
• Bet on twelve numbers - 2:1
• Bet on eighteen numbers - 1:1

Betting Options

Red or Black

This is probably the simplest option to choose from, as players can either select the red or the black numbers.

Even or Odd

There is also the option to choose either the even or odd numbers across the board.

Inside Bets

Some of the inside bets:

• Straight Up: Bets placed on one number
• Split: Bets on two numbers that adjoin each other
• Street: Placing bets on three numbers together in a row
• Corner: Bets being placed on four adjoining numbers
• Six Line: Betting on two adjoining streets (six numbers)
