Theme, graphics & soundtrack

The look of Slingo Classic 20th Anniversary is very similar to the original Slingo Classic title. The graphics have been tidied up and sharpened to bring it into 2021, of course, but this is like stepping back to the days of dial-up internet with 256 colours and blocky graphics. 

Whilst many retro titles use ultra-modern graphics to recreate jukeboxes and other vintage objects, this title has the look of something far crisper in many minds, which makes a refreshing change. 

One gripe has to be with the way in which the paytable has been arranged. With win amounts displayed in two columns, this creates something of a jumble of numbers on the screen.

There is no in-game soundtrack, as you probably would expect from an online title in 2001 given the bandwidth limitations, and the reel and win sounds will probably become grating over time as they ping and beep at you.

How to play Slingo Classic 20th Anniversary

1. Set your bet by using the round buttons to the bottom left of the game board. These buttons move you through the bet options from smallest to largest.

Slingo Classic 20th Anniversary is a great addition to the Slingo Originals portfolio. It gives players the chance to step back in time and look at how this gaming giant got started. That said, a more modern twist could have been employed in the spin mechanic and the somewhat confusing paytable layout. All in all, this will engage fans of slingo titles, even if only for a short while.
