Introduction

Colossus Kingdom is a slot developed by Spinomenal with a fairly vague theme set in a generic fantasy world of kings, princesses, knights and dragons. Colossus Kingdom uses a standard 5x3 grid with 20 paylines, although reels 1 and 5 each show 4 symbols to view. There are four medium symbols, the Dragon, the Bearded King, the Princess and the Hero, plus 6 low symbols, Ace, King, Queen, Jack, 10 and 9. The special symbols are the Sage/Wizard, the Portcullis and the Bonus Wheel. All wins pay left to right.

Theme, graphics and soundtrack

Colossus Kingdom is set on the winding mountain road that leads to a heavily fortified castle with its forbidding gate. While the reels are at rest this is obscured but becomes visible once they are spinning. The colour scheme is largely lilacs, purples and mauves. The characters themselves are cartoonish but not in a witty or post-ironic way. They seem to have been taken from a children’s picture book which is a little off-putting. The animation is limited and doesn’t seem to have been created with much imagination. The soundtrack is an uninspired light orchestral affair which sounds like an off-the-peg fairy-tale tune. There is something under-developed about the whole design.

How to play Colossus Kingdom

1. Click the Spin button or press the space bar to start playing using the current Total Bet.
2. Click Autoplay to start continuous play using your selected bet line. Click it again to stop Autoplay at any time.

4. To rescue the princess you need to land a combination by landing at least three times on one payline.

Wild

Wild substitutes as any symbol except Free Spins and Bonus. The Wild won’t appear as a Colossus symbol. 5 Wilds on a winning line will pay bet per line x160.

Free Spins

This only appears as a Colossus on reels 2-4. When this symbols lands fully (3x3) it awards Free Spins. Active during base game only.

Bonus

This only appears as a Colossus symbol on reels 2-4. When this symbol lands fully (3x3) it awards a Bonus Game. Active during base game only.

Mystery Symbol

Once the reels have stopped if there are any Mystery Symbols they will uncover and reveal 1 random normal-sized symbol.

Colossus Spin Feature

The Colossus Spin Feature can appear at random while the reels are spinning and place a full-sized (3x3) Colossus Symbol in the centre.

Nudge Feature

Gamble Feature

Once the Free Spins feature is triggered, the gamble screen displays. This offers the chance of winning up to 40 free spins. A player can choose to Collect the current number of free spins or gamble a portion of them by clicking the Gamble button to try to win more free spins.

A successful gamble will win the player the indicated number of free spins for this round. After this the player can choose to gamble again or collect the amount gathered so far. Once the player reaches 40 free spins they will not be able to gamble again.

In the event of an unsuccessful gamble, the player will receive the amount of free spins indicated on the losing coin and will not be able to gamble again.

Colossus Kingdom review: our verdict

Colossus Kingdom is unremarkable to look at, which is a shame. There are plenty of features that you don’t find everywhere so the game play itself is generally satisfying. The low RTP and medium variance make for a fairly undramatic experience, but what does let it down are the visual and audio aspects.
