Sadly for the folk at KA Gaming, it doesn’t get much better as the game launches. This is no luxury Rodeo Drive shopping emporium - or even the Oriental equivalent as this is a game created with that audience in mind. This is a genial hat seller, who carries his wares about piled high on his head.

Luxurious it may not be, but Hat Seller is certainly good fun. Graphics are done in a bright, cartoon style, and the big, chunky symbols are designed to look perfect on even the smallest of screens. There’s a jaunty soundtrack to accompany the game, but when it’s mixed in with the sound of the reels falling into place and winning trills, it can all get a bit much - it certainly had us reaching for the mute button within a few minutes of playing!

Hat Seller RTP & Volatility

Hat Seller is a recent launch from KA Gaming, so game data hasn’t yet been published. For this reason, we suggest you explore the game very thoroughly in demo mode before committing any of your own cash to a spin. KA Gaming slots usually offer an average RTP ratio, but volatility can often be quite high. How to Play Hat Seller

Like all KA Gaming slots, Hat Seller is very easy to play.

1 Tap on the New Bet button to call up your betting options and make your selection.

2 Tap on Max Bet to apply the top stake to your spin - you’ll be asked to Confirm or Cancel your selection.

3 Press the central Spin button for one game. For multiple games at the same stake, press and hold the Spin button to access the Autoplay menu. This gives you up to 200, or even infinite spins, although tapping Spin again will end the feature immediately.

4 The ‘I’ button calls up the game’s rules and paytable.

5 The menu icon leads you to the game’s sound controls. You can also review your game session statistics.

Bet Sizes & Paytable Wins

We decided to trial the game playing at minimum stakes of 0.30, although the wagering options go as high as 150.00 per spin. The paytable is dynamic, so it always shows the actual cash sums you could win based on your current stake. Awards are paid for matching three, four or five symbols on adjacent reels, starting from the leftmost reel.

You can instantly see from the paytable that the rewards for many of the low-value symbols won’t even pay back the cost of the spin. It’s not until you land five-of-a-kind Kings and Aces that you start seeing a profit. And even some of the higher-value symbols won’t match your stake for three of a kind. So you’ll need to land multiple wins, or trigger the free spins and multipliers to see the best returns.

Hat Seller Bonus Features & Free Spins

The pile of hats represents the game’s wild, so it can substitute for all other symbols in the game except for the scatter.

For some reason, the developers have chosen a tree symbol to act as the game’s scatter. This is the top-paying symbol, but it also activates the free spIns bonus round when you land three or more anywhere on the reels. This awards 12 free spins, which can’t be retriggered.

Throughout the bonus round the yellow, orange and purple hat symbols take on a special significance. Every time one of these symbols lands it attracts a random 2x, 3x, 4x or 5x multiplier.

Overall Review

Although we’d be hard-pressed to describe Hat Seller as depicting our idea of luxury, it’s still a fun game with some interesting features. But you have to trigger the free spins bonus round to really make the most of this game. The base game delivers pretty poor returns overall, so you need free spins and multipliers to storm ahead. Definitely a game worth trying in demo mode, but whether or not you’ll fancy risking your cash at an online casino is very much a matter of personal taste. You’ll definitely want to acquaint yourself with the game's mute button though - the soundtrack is agony on the ears!
