The characters are a little cartoonish which gives the game a nice tongue-in-cheek quality, and Charger wields a mean bow and arrow. The music is very much a background feature, ambient rather than melodic, with the sound effects - including a cash register motif - being well to the fore.

How to play Hero Clash

Hero Clash Bonus Features & Free Spins

Hero Power Meter

Hero Clash has four stages. Each character has their own Hero Power meter. Collect 150 Hero Power points to complete the current character’s meter. Two or more Hero Power scatters will give you Hero Power points.

Hero Power

Two or more Hero Power scatters award Hero Power points. 2 Hero Power scatters represent 1 point. 3 Hero power scatters represent 50 points. 4 Hero Power scatters represent 70 points. 5 Hero Power scatters represent 100 points.

Bonus Scatter

3 or more Bonus scatters will complete whichever is the current Hero Power meter and trigger 12 Free Spins. 2 or more Bonus scatters also deliver prizes as follows: 2 Bonus scatters represent 0.10; 3 Bonus scatters 2.00; and 5 Bonus scatters 20.00.

Free Spins

You win Free Spins by completing the Hero Power meter, which means reaching 150 Hero Power points. 12 Free Spins are awarded with 2x multiplier applied to each spin. Each character has a unique power that can be used in the Free Spins round. 

After Free Spins the game moves onto the next Hero Character stage and the meter resets to zero.

Stage 1 - Cluster Wilds. On each Free Spin Slade can randomly add a cluster of 2x2 Wilds anywhere on the reels.

Stage 2 - Sticky Wild. In the middle of the reels is the Sticky Wild symbol. On each Free Spin, Charger will apply 1x, up to 5x, to the Sticky Wild symbol.

Stage 3 - Random Wilds. On each Free Spin Hot Shots can add from 1 to 8 Wild symbols on random reel positions.

Hero Clash Review

Hero Clash is an adventure themed slot. You cycle through all 4 of the hero stages, starting with the male warrior Slade, in stage 1. Next up is the female archer Charger, then Hot Shots in stage 3 and the fairy-like Sonic Boom in stage 4. These are unfamiliar characters but easily recognised archetypes, reminiscent of a variety of video game figures. 

The features don’t introduce anything very new, as they mainly involve wilds and occasional multipliers. However, the pay ways system makes good use of the wilds when they do come into play. Overall it’s a pretty busy, fast-moving game so there’s enough to keep you interested.

The Hero Meter is quite clever. It makes it worthwhile to keep on spinning because you can estimate when the next bonus game might trigger. In the Super Stake mode this happens quite often. 

Hero Clash is an enjoyable slot with lots of extras. It’s a nice touch that the Free Spins feature can be triggered in two ways: by landing 3 or more scatters and by filling the Power Meter with enough points. All in all, it’s a fun game without breaking any new ground.
