The smaller-than-average reels are the only complaint, but Arcadem didn’t have much of choice - it needed to dedicate a large portion of the screen to the story.

The RTP of Starfang is 96.11 per cent and its variance categorisation is medium-high, so it can be unpredictable at times. The top prize of 1,068x is an appealing proposition, but large wins will always be uncommon.

There is a lot going on with Starfang! A dragon needs to be slain and a kingdom saved, but players can start more modestly with this guide:

Our verdict

With its rich lore and gothic storyline, Starfang is absorbing. It might have the best narrative we have ever encountered on an online slot, which is reason enough to check it out. Arcadem has cleverly swerved the usual fairy tale cliches associated with Camelot, opting instead for an end of days vision.

Amongst the high drama, it is easy to lose sight of the fact that this is an extremely well put together slot. The symbol design is top-notch and we love the way free spins are awarded. Rather than earning free rounds through one-off achievements, there is a sense of steady progress as you collect swords and shields.

The fate of Camelot remains ambiguous. Who can tell whether our hero will slay his foe, but one thing is certain - Starfang will thrill players from the first spin.
