Theme, Graphics & Soundtrack

The Critters has a creepy theme, as it explores things that go bump in the night. Players are invited to join a brother and sister as they are awoken in the night to discover that the monsters they fear under their bed aren't just a figment of their imagination! The game shows the brother and sister on the reels along with some creepy characters, including a spider and some different-coloured monsters in various shapes and sizes. 

The graphics look good and the game has the look and feel of a kids’ movie with the two main characters and an ensemble of monsters. The sound effects add to the game-play, but some creepy music would have been a nice addition.

How to Play The Critters

The Critters Bonus Features 

Gold-Edged Symbols and Sticky Wilds

If you land a winning combination of any monster with a gold edge, it will trigger the Sticky Wild feature, where the gold-edged symbol flips over to reveal a Sticky Wild and up to five Free Spins.

Free Spins

The game features a special doorway symbol that appears in just one position on the reels - in the very central spot. If you are lucky enough to land this, it will trigger the Free Spins bonus feature. Players are awarded 12 Free Spins and the feature takes place in the lopsided bedroom.

Double-up Game

After each win in the base game, except during or immediately after the Sticky Wild feature, players have the opportunity to double their winnings by playing in the gamble game. The Critters Review

The Critters offers a fun game-playing experience and has a lot to offer in the way of bonus features. The game looks good, with graphics reminiscent of a kids’ animation movie, and the story of the kids against the monsters makes it engaging from the start. It would be nice to have a turbo mode, but it’s the range of bonus features that makes this game appealing. The bonus features are really engaging - especially the bonus monster chasing game. With sticky wilds and the chance to double winnings with the gamble game on top of the free spins round, there’s plenty going on to make the game really entertaining.
