Theme, Graphics & Soundtrack

The theme of Football Allstar PSO is a World Cup penalty shoot-out at the quarter-final stage with eight teams vying to keep their hopes alive. The game is played out on a mobile phone screen set against a strange sky with meteorites flying around. One would have thought that the designer might have given us a famous stadium packed to the rafters, but no, they stick with their classic backdrop for some reason.

Perhaps the meteorites are supposed to represent shots flying into the goal, but no, as the players step up it looks like they are hitting a balloon that that swerves and dips towards the goal or flies into the sky.

The strips which players can select are accurate and help to understand which team you are backing. The design of the layers, meanwhile, leaves a lot to be desired. You may recognise David Beckham and Mo Salah (not sure they were ever on the same pitch), but the remainder will leave you guessing unless you they are representing your favourite player of all time.

The set up does not really work, since you can have Beckham in an Argentina shirt, and we all know how that is likely to end up!

The soundtrack is also weird, since it bears no resemblance to anything you would expect to hear associated with a game of football.
