Theme, Graphics & Soundtrack

Set in a pink-tinged skyscape with floating rocks etched with glowing runes, Samurai is a fusion of cyberpunk and Far Eastern fantasy. The loading screen depicts a high-rise, futuristic city skyline.

When you enter the game, a glitching hologram of a sword-wielding winged fairy dominates the space above the reels. Behind her stretches a grid-lined cyberspace, while animated holographic advertisements flash in the background. Each time a winning combination comes in, the fairy appears in full in front of the reels, swiping her sword in a semi-circle. The higher-tier symbols on the reels are stylised images of a beetle, a cat, a demon and a bird, while the lower-tier symbols are colourful, abstract shapes. The background soundtrack sounds good but is on a short loop, so it becomes repetitive after a while.

How to Play Samurai

1. While the game is loading, you'll see a splash screen with a futuristic cityscape. Press the 'play' button to enter the game.

2. Before you start, familiarise yourself with the game and its settings. The menu button on the far left gives you access to the game's pay table and rules, sound settings, game history and game help.

Samurai Bonus Feature & Free Spins

Samurai's main bonus feature is the Free Game. You can win 7, 10 or 12 Free Games for three, four and five Scatters respectively. This game has a respins feature with a difference because each win during the Free Games cycle triggers a respin. This means that respins, at least in theory, can be triggered indefinitely. You can alternatively buy Free Games for a set number of coins based on your chosen bet. When you confirm your purchase, you'll get one free spin, which determines the number of scatters and therefore the number of Free Games you'll get. The Free Games then play out with additional respins on each win.

Samurai Review

At first glance, Samurai looks enticing with its futuristic design and holographic animations. Designed with mobile devices in mind, its interface is narrow and works better with touch screens than with a mouse. The game has an atmospheric background soundtrack that is a little short, resulting in an obviously repetitive loop.

Samurai's average RTP combined with low volatility and high hit rate keep interest, especially when the Free Game feature is in progress. There's a reasonable chance, for example, that with a minimum of seven Free Games, you'll get at least one win and one respin. But beware of spending too many credits circumventing the base game to buy Free Games. It's not a quicker way to win, and it won't improve the RTP.
