The wild west has been a popular theme for generations. From early Spaghetti Westerns, to Clint Eastwood classics, and more recent TV shows like Westworld. The idea of riding free across the harsh but beautiful desert scenery of the American West continues to capture hearts around the world. And what sums up this sense of wild freedom more than the mighty Mustang? Set against a stunning backdrop of dusty canyons and a spectacular desert sunset, the game instantly evokes feelings of the wild west. The casually placed cowboy hat and lasso at the edge of the reels just cement this. The soundtrack adds to the feel too, with all the aspects you’d expect from a wild west movie, including whistling, gentle guitar playing and even horses whinnying. You half expect Clint Eastwood in High Noon to appear at any moment! Graphics and soundtracks aside though, this game offers a good variety of ways to win a decent amount. It is nicely laid out, intuitive and genuinely enjoyable. If you liked the Mustang Money Slot and enjoy Pragmatic Play Slots in general then this is the game for you. How to play Mustang Gold
As with all Pragmatic Play slots, this one is really self-explanatory and easy to get going with. This makes it a great choice for players just starting out. Although it is certain to appeal to any kind of player really, whether you are an old hand or a newbie.
Five reels and three rows are set over 25 paylines. Bets can range from 0.25 to 125 coins. There is also an autoplay feature for those who don’t like constantly hitting the spin button. This can be customised to stop for a number of variables including when you win anything, if you win or trigger a bonus feature, if a single win exceeds a certain amount or if your cash in hand amount decreases or increases outside of a set range. This gives a really nice amount of control. There is also a turbo feature, which speeds up the reels nicely.
Once you have selected your bet amount and also your autoplay requirements, simply spin and then win by matching any three symbols. As you’d expect, all symbols have varying values. They also all tie in nicely to the theme. J, Q, K, A are worth the least, followed by the chirpy looking cowgirl, a gun wielding cowboy, then the black mustang and finally a majestic looking white mustang.
There is also a campfire symbol which acts as the scatter, and a Mustang Gold symbol which is the wild, replacing all others (apart from the scatter and two other bonus symbols, the horseshoe and the sheriff badge collect symbol).
How to win at Mustang Gold
Matching between three and five of any of the main symbols will net you varying amounts. Three of J, Q, K and A will see you get 0.20, four is 0.60 and five 4.00. For the cowgirl, three gets you 0.40, four 1.00 and five 8.00. The cowboy is worth slightly more, with 0.40 for three, 1.00 for four and 10.00 for five. The black mustang gives 0.40 for three, 2.00 for four and 12.00 for five. The white mustang gives you 0.40 for three, 2.00 for four and 20.00 for five.
Matching the scatters doesn’t win you any coins, but does unlock free spins. There are also further chances to win with the other bonus features and games on offer.
Mustang Gold bonus features
This game has some really fun and quite innovative bonus features. First up, the campfire scatter symbol offers access to one times your bet amount and also eight free games if you match three of it. During these free games, there are even more chances to win - you can again match the scatters to get even more free games, but also there are more of certain symbols such as the horseshoes and sheriff badges discussed in more detail below.
There is also the money collect feature which appears randomly in the main reel and in the free spins. Golden horseshoes showing different amounts ranging from 0.25 - 2.00 can appear on reels one, two, three and four. If you match one or more horseshoes with the golden sheriff badge symbol - which appears on reel five only - then you win the value of all the horseshoe symbols currently on the reels (no matter where they are).
If you match one of the four jackpot horseshoes (these can be recognised as they are different colours and also display grand, minor, mini or major on each, with the sheriff badge on reel five, then you also trigger the Jackpot Reveal Bonus.
In this reveal bonus, you are taken to a separate reel where there are three rows of four golden horseshoes, you click on these until you have matched three of one kind of bonus. There are four to choose from, the mini gives 12.50 coins, the minor 25, the major 50 and grand 250.
