Under the Fifth Sun Review
Go back in time to XIV to join the Mayan royalty amongst the imposing pyramids and try to unlock the secret legacy protected by the gods who oversaw the Mexican tribes.
If you can get to the Aztec Sun Stone, maybe you can retrieve a huge multiplier that will cement your big win, literally in stone.
This game is free to play in demo mode and we recommend this to familiarise yourself before you decide to play for real at an online casino.
Theme, Graphics & Soundtrack
It’s a well-worn theme and the graphics here do nothing to push the genre forward. Some vaguely Egyptian looking concrete icons and very little else. Despite being theoretically set way back in time, some of the icons look very cartoonish.
If you’re a fan of the movie Mannequin, you may appreciate the soundtrack to this game a little more. It’s reminiscent of the opening credits, as well it might be given that the main female protagonist in that movie has time travelled from Ancient Egypt. Although nowhere does it say that this game is set in the 80s. If none of the above means anything to you, you’re probably going to find the music pretty lame.

Under the Fifth Sun Bonus Features
Wild Pyramid
Pyramids might not look too wild from the outside, but who knows? Party on the inside, perhaps. Anyway, collect three or more of them on the reels to trigger the Free Spins Round where you can win as many as 31 free spins. In these rounds, you can win up to x25 your total bet. Also, it can substitute for any other symbol on the reels, apart from the Bonus Wheel.
Bonus Wheel
Give this feature a good spin—it will reward you with a multiplier that could be up to x100 your total bet. You’ll activate it if you find three or more on the reels, but keep in mind that it will only appear on reels 1, 3 and 5. You’ll win one of the following multipliers: x5, x10, x15, x20, x50 or even x100 your original total bet
Sneak Head
You can also win free spins via this feature, at least 5 in fact. It will appear on the reels after you play your first spin. It will take a few steps to reach the multiplier level and then it will award a random amount of free spins each time.
The level of Sneak Head you’re at will determine how many free spins you receive, as follows:
-X1 or x2 current multiplier - 1-10 spins awarded
-x5 current multiplier - 1-8 spins awarded
-x10 current multiplier - 1-5 spins awarded
-x15 current multiplier - 1-5 spins awarded
-x25 current multiplier - 1-3 spins awarded
You can keep going until you reach the x25 multiplier. After that it’s one more free spin then back to the base game.
Our Verdict
There’s nothing in this game that really matches the prize wheel bonus apart from Sneak Head, which is a nifty way to collect multipliers and free spins.
We referred earlier to the soundtrack reminding us of cult 80s movie Mannequin. It has to be said that the comparisons don’t end there. The graphics in particular seem stuck in that era and really fail to serve the game’s potential.
Under the Fifth Sun is definitely worth a spin regardless of whether you are particularly fond of the Aztec slot genre. But we have a feeling that the lack of aesthetic imagination—not a pharaoh or sphinx in sight—will have you fleeing the pyramids, if the rewards don’t come flying in quickly enough.
