This Friday, Christchurch’s newest nightclub will open to the public. Mashina, located in the former underground car park of Christchurch Casino, will be making its debut this week, and members of the public are invited to check out this hot new venue. It has taken just over 3 months to build Mashina Lounge, and Christchurch Casino managers are pleased with the quick turnaround for this project. Mashina takes its inspiration from its settings. ‘Mashina’ is Russian for ‘car’ or ‘machine’, which is perfect for the space. The venue was formerly Christchurch Casino’s underground parking garage, and the operator has found a new use for the property. The new lounge will be a sleek, modern entertainment venue that will attract all types of patrons. “Mashina embraces its industrial origins however, it is anything but austere,” reads a statement from Christchurch Casino. “Boasting formidable new production and service kitchens with leading edge lighting and sound design, Mashina guaranteed to satisfy even the most seasoned clubber”. The bar will be equipped with a wide range of imported vodkas and beers from various breweries. The kitchen will churn out gourmet appetizers for guests, including Christchurch’s first metre-long pizza. The new nightclub is an R20 venue, but the lounge will be open to host some private all ages events. Mashina is open as late as any other bar on the strip, but if you’re not ready to end the party at last call, you can always visit the casino upstairs for one last drink. This weekend, there will be no cover charge for guests. Friday, Saturday and Sunday, you can visit the new lounge for free to check out the space. We are thrilled for the opening of this new venue, and we hope to see members of the community out to celebrate its debut.
