Microgaming is one of the leading online slots developers in the gambling world. Over the years, the company has designed hundreds of online slots and other online casino games for a wide range of popular gambling websites. Now, Microgaming will make its land-based debut by entering into a partnership with Hipprodome Casino in London and PokerStars.
This will be a first for both Microgaming and PokerStars as neither company has ever hosted its own land-based venue before. As such, it is expected to be a revolutionary event in the online slots and online poker world. The two companies are going to partner to launch the new poker room at the London’s newly renovated Hippodrome Casino, which has already received fantastic reviews since its re-opening.
While PokerStars will (naturally) be in charge of the poker tables and tournaments, Microgaming will manage all other games as the exclusive provider. Betway will also work with the company, providing administrative support and loyalty programs.
“The convergence of offline and online gaming is a trend that Microgaming has been at the forefront of for some time now,” says Microgaming CEO Roger Raatgever. “We are delighted to be able to provide a bespoke online casino to The Hippodrome, giving their players a first class cross-platform gaming experience.”
This is not the first time that the transfer between online and offline gambling services has occurred. However, it is the one of the first occasions on which an online gambling provider has made the transition to the land-based gambling market. This will certainly be an interesting shift for Microgaming, but the gaming world is confident that it will be a successful venture for both Microgaming and PokerStars.
The new poker room will be opened in 2013. So, the two companies have plenty of time to perfect their new land-based strategy, appealing to a whole new audience with their expertise for providing great games and activities to a very modern gaming audience.
