Alchemy was a medieval forerunner of science, where the alchemist would attempt to transform matter - usually lead - into gold. There are no records that this was ever successful, but the mystery remains and alchemy has become an esoteric theme for slots games.

We’re in an underground secret lab where strange colored bottles and tubes glow on the shelves and machines whirr and hum. The soundtrack is generic mystery and magic stuff, but it’s the symbols that really shine with magical rings and mysterious glowing substances being weighed.

What we really liked were the royals, which have been integrated with the theme and take the shape of potion bottles containing powerful and possibly toxic substances. It’s just a shame the audio-visuals aren’t matched by the gameplay.

Ka Gaming hasn’t rated Mystery Alchemy for RTP or volatility. This is usually a red flag, but this is a reputable studio, so if you like the gameplay on offer this slot is probably worth a spin. Mystery Alchemy Review: Our Verdict

Ka Gaming slots have definitely improved of late, with some really attractive graphics - we’re thinking of the pleasing design in KA's Fortune Ganesha and Captain Pirate.

It’s a shame, then, that the same attention to detail doesn’t carry over into the gameplay, and that’s the problem with Mystery Alchemy. The game looks great, with plenty of potions and mysterious substances, but the gameplay is completely generic with no jackpots or bonus games except the transforming symbol feature, which was generally a dud. 

One day Ka Gaming will bring all the elements together in a truly enjoyable slot, but Mystery Alchemy didn’t bring the magic for us.
