Graphics & Theme

You can probably guess from the title that this game takes its theme from samurai warriors, much like the Samurai Split online slot. Looking at the logo you may think that you’re about to engage in a bloody battle, but in reality, that’s not the case at all. Instead, you will be travelling to medieval Japan, celebrating and paying homage to the iconic samurais as well as Japanese culture as a whole.

The theme runs throughout the various symbols which include bonsai trees, koi, antique vases and beautiful geishas. An eerie and mysterious soundtrack plays behind the reels as they load, setting the dramatic tone for the game perfectly. The slot follows the same layout as most of the other August Gaming offerings, being framed in an intricate gold design. In the background you will see a samurai in the shadows. It’s not the most magnificent backdrop you’ll ever come across, but it’s one of the best graphics August Gaming has come up with so far.

How to Play Samurai Warrior

Samurai Warrior is straightforward to play. You can find out the basics of how to get started spinning the reels by reading our guide below.

1.    Click the purple ‘Menu’ button to see a range of options including turning on sound effects, turning on turbo play and setting your screen size.
2.    Remember to click the ‘Pay Table’ button before you set your bets to get to grips with what the symbols are and what combinations you need to land in order to win.
3.    Set your bet by using the blue ‘Bet’ area. The plus and minus symbols either side of the number will allow you to increase or decrease it as needed.
4.    To set the reels in motion, use the green ‘Spin’ button.
5.    Holding down the spin button will automatically keep the reels spinning.
6.    You can see how much you’ve wagered and your balance in the grey bar at the bottom of the screen.

There are two bonus features you can use when playing Samurai Warrior.

Wild Symbols

Wild symbols are represented by Japanese writing and will appear on reels 2 to 5. These symbols can substitute in for <b>any other symbol</b> in the game apart from the purple chest. There are also multipliers attached to the wilds which award as follows:

Whenever 2 wilds appear in the game, all wins are multiplied by 2.

Whenever 3 wilds appear in the game, all wins are multiplied by 3.

Whenever 4 wilds appear in the game, all wins are multiplied by 4.

Scatter Symbol

The scatter symbol is represented by the red chest in the game. You want to land three or more of them on consecutive reels to activate the free games bonus round. The amount of free spins you will receive all depends on how many chests you managed to land. Unlocking three chests will reward you with 8 free spins as well as a 3x multiplier on your line bet.

Four chests will give out even greater rewards, giving you 10 free spins and a 13x multiplier. If you manage to land five chests you’ll win the biggest payout in the game, triggering a 33x multiplier as well as 13 free spins to use.

Unfortunately, the free spins can’t be retriggered but there are sticky wild symbols throughout the free spins that make it a bit better.

Overall Review

The title of Samurai Warrior promised a lot, but actually playing on the reels left us a bit disappointed. There’s no battle to be had here. However, the icons are designed well and the payouts can be good if you manage to land the right combos.
