Multiplier Symbols

On any spin, symbols can drop down into view with multipliers attached to them. These multipliers range between 2X and 500X, and when the symbols with multipliers on them are involved with a win, the multiplier is applied to that win at the end of the winning cascade. If there are multiple multipliers in view on a single spin, they are added together at the end of the spin before being applied against the win total.

Free Spins

No modern-day video slot would be complete without a free-spins bonus round, and Gates of Olympus’ is triggered by landing three, four, five or six of the scatter symbols anywhere in view. You will then receive 15 free spins, along with a payout worth 3X, 5X or 100X your stake depending on the amount of scatter symbols present.

The main difference in the free-spins bonus round - compared to the base-game - is that the multipliers attached to symbols are applied globally. That means that you don’t have to worry about which symbols drop down with multipliers in view; any multipliers that are present are applied to all winning combo. What’s more, this multiplier then locks in place - it doesn’t reset between spins.

Ante Bet

Like a few of Pragmatic Play’s slots we’ve seen before, Gates of Olympus uses a kind of “scatter pays” mechanic for all the symbols - meaning they don’t need to line up from left-to-right in order to form a win. This is, generally speaking, something we like - and like Sweet Bonanza, it’s a format that clearly goes down well with players as well.

The Good and the Bad

With Gates of Olympus, however, we feel Pragmatic Play has done a slightly better job than with Sweet Bonanza. While the maximum win remains the same (you can win up to 5,000X your stake while playing), we like that the symbol multipliers go up as high as 500X - as this makes hitting those big wins easier.

However, we would have liked to have seen the game’s maximum win increase, perhaps to 10,000X - to be more in-line with the fact that there’s 500X multipliers present on the reels.

We do really like the fact that the multipliers can land in the base-game as well as the free-spins bonus round. However, it does mean that, aside from a larger number of free rounds, there’s not a huge amount of point to the free spins.

Is It Worth A Spin?

On the whole, however, Gates of Olympus is a solid release from Pragmatic. The graphics are super, it offers fantastic mobile gameplay, and the big win-potential is likely to attract players from all corners of the online gambling spectrum - so we expect it to go down well once it’s released later on this month.
