Graphics and Theme

In keeping with the theme, Pragmatic Play has chosen to design the slot around an ancient-looking feel; the game is set on reels that are overlaid on, what looks to be an ancient underworld .

Graphicay, it’s definitely not the best we’ve seen from Pragmatic Play, but that’s not to say The Hand of Midas doesn’t look good - it’s just not quite as graphically-rich as some of their other titles.

The Hand of Midas’ RTP and Volatility

The game developer themselves note that it’s a “5/5” when it comes to volatility. This means that you can expect to see a lower number of wins than you would in other, lower variance slots - but it does mean that when the wins do drop, they’ll typically be worth quite a bit more.

In terms of RTP, The Hand of Midas does a pretty good job with a default RTP of 96.54%. However - we need to point out the word “default”. It’s included here, because Pragmatic Play is one of many software providers who now offer their games in a variety of RTP settings.

Like many game developers, Pragmatic Play has realized that players are continually looking for more variance within the bonuses and features of a video slot - and, fittingly, The Hand of Midas offers two of the most popular (yet volatile) mechanics around; sticky wilds, and multipliers.

Wild Multipliers

While the base-game of The Hand of Midas lacks excitement, the software provider has built one unique little feature in - and you’ll notice that whenever a wild symbol lands in view, it will activate a random multiplier of 1X, 2X or 3X - this is displayed on the giant stone fist on the right-hand-side of the reels.

This multiplier is then applied to any wins formed on that spin - even if they aren’t formed using the multiplier wild itself.

Free Spins

The main bonus round within The Hand of Midas is the free-spins feature, and this is triggered by landing 3, 4, or 5 of the scatter symbols anywhere in view. Some cool-looking mini slot machines then appear on the reels, and each of these mini slots then awards a number of free spins - between one and three.

Now, during the bonus round, whenever a wild symbol lands in view it will transform into a sticky wild. This means that it locks in place and remains there for the duration of the feature. What’s more, each time you land one of the wild symbols the multiplier will increase by 1X - and the multiplier does not reset between spins.

We should also point out that - while the free-spins bonus round can’t be re-triggered by landing scatter symbols, the bonus does come with a “bonus guarantee” - between 10X and 30X depending on how many scatter symbols you landed initially.

The Hand of Midas Review

While, at first glance, The Hand of Midas may not be the most creative release we’ve ever seen from Pragmatic Play. However, after giving the slot a few hundred spins in “demo mode”, we were actually really impressed with how the game’s been made - and we think it’s a pretty fun-to-play and action-packed slot.
