Set-up

As with most regular modern slots, Weird Science has five reels in total with three rows each. These are laid out in the standard five x three configuration. There are up to 25 paylines that can be selected in increments, and a variable bet level ranging from one to 10. There is also a coin size variable, which is selectable in increments ranging from 0.01 to 20 coins. Prizes are awarded to fortunate players for finding instances of two, three, four or five adjacent matching symbols oriented from left to right on an active payline. In total there are 12 symbols in this game. Ten of these are regular sorts for prize matches, whereas the remaining two are special sorts that offer wild and scatter functionality along with the chance of winning free spins. It is good to see that all the symbols are related to the theme, with a host of objects such as microscopes, nuclear waste and brightly-coloured test tubes making up the prize table.

Prizes

The most valuable symbol is the picture of the nerdy-looking kid holding a remote. Finding five of these on an active payline will award players with a large possible top prize of up to 500 credits. Next up are the test tubes, which offer a much smaller range of prizes - up to a maximum of 1,000 credits. Way down at the bottom of the prize table are the magnifying glass and poison jar symbols. These are the least valuable in the game and accordingly award a range of small prizes - up to a measly 100 credits each.

Wild and free spin

First among the special symbols is the mad scientist. This is a wild, which means it can be used as a substitute in place of any regular symbol as part of a winning combination on an active payline; in addition, any winning combination involving one or more wilds is automatically tripled! The scientist is also used to unlock this game's free spins round. Finding at least one scientist on both reels one and five will trigger the feature, whereby players are awarded a number of free spins that are all played with a three x multiplier. Perhaps even better, this feature can be retriggered during the bonus round for even more free spins! All free spins are played using the selected paylines and bet size of the main game spin that initially triggered them.

Scatter

Next up is the scatter, which is the orb. This can award handsome prizes for appearing in any configuration, regardless of position and the paylines selected. Scatter prizes are multiplied by the total bet, with winnings awarded for finding two to five symbols.
