Introduction
In the past couple of years, we’ve started to see Relax Gaming taking a more creative approach when building their video slots. In the past, they were often criticized for pushing out bland, cookie-cutter content… and while their latest release, Zombie Circus, isn’t overly intuitive, it does offer a pretty unique bonus round – one that, when caught on the right day, is more than capable of dishing out significant wins.
Graphics and Theme
As the name gives away, Zombie Circus is themed all around Zombies that have escaped from the circus – and, graphically, it looks great. Relax Gaming has clearly done their best here when it comes to the slot’s look, design and feel, and we think it’s fair to say that players will be impressed with the way Zombie Circus looks.
Zombie Circus Slot RTP and Volatility
In terms of the game’s layout; Zombie Circus is built around a 5-reel, 3-row format, and it can be played from between 0.10 and 100 credits per spin.
Perhaps most remarkable is the game’s RTP – coming in at a whopping 97% - and this is far higher than we’re used to seeing in a video slot today!
Zombie Circus, like many of Relax Gaming’s slots, is pretty volatile. While we wouldn’t put it up there with the likes of Dead or Alive II or Bonanza – NetEnt and Big Time Gaming’s “signature” games - Zombie Circus definitely falls on the higher end of the volatility scale, and because of this, you can expect relatively big wins – although infrequent.
Zombie Circus Bonus Features
It’s probably fair to say that Zombie Circus is a bit of a “one trick pony” when it comes to bonuses and features – and, aside from one main bonus round, there aren’t any reel modifiers, base game features or jackpot rounds to be found. Nonetheless, Zombie Circus does a good job within the main bonus round – and below, we’re going to take a look at what this feature is, and how it works!
Free Spins
To trigger the main Free Spins bonus round in Zombie Circus you’ll need to land 3, 4, or 5 of the scatter symbols anywhere in view. Pay close attention to the number of scatter symbols you land – as the more you land, the more lucrative the bonus is likely to be!
Once you’ve triggered the bonus round, you’ll be taken to a new screen; here, you’ll see Zombies appearing, and you’ll be tasked with picking from these Zombies. First, you’ll be choosing how many Free Spins you get; you can win 5 or 10 free spins here, so they’re not massive values – but enough to get you started.
Once your free spins number has been determined, you’ll then be picking new Zombies to determine which symbol is going to be transformed into a wild for the duration of the bonus round.
If you manage to land four or five of the scatter symbols in view – well, that’s where the money really can start to add up, and while it’s not going to be the easiest job in the world, it may be worth sticking around – as if you manage to do this and get low-value symbols turning into wilds, you can end up walking away with some pretty significant profits!
Our Verdict of Zombie Circus
Our first impression was that – despite the great-looking graphics and impeccable animations - Zombie Circus is a little bit slow to play. While this may be fitting with the whole Zombie theme, we can’t help but feel as though Relax Gaming could have made the base game a little bit more exciting. There’s not a huge amount going on between spins, and we’d go as far as saying the base game play was even a bit boring at times.
Thankfully, a pretty exciting bonus round mostly makes up for this slow base game – and while it’s not the easiest feature in the world to trigger, it’s usually a fairly lucrative bonus. We love the fact that the player gets to pick the Zombies to see how many free spins they’re going to be awarded, and to determine which symbols will become wild – although getting the five free spins twice in a row was quite annoying.
All in all, we feel that Zombie Circus is a decent effort from Relax Gaming. It may not be as commercially successful as some of their other releases – after all, how could anyone compete with the success of Money Train and Money Train 2 – but it’s a great effort from the software provider, and offers nice winning potential.

Who makes Zombie Circus?
Zombie Circus is a video slot from a company called Relax Gaming. Relax Gaming has sprung to the forefront of the iGaming industry over the past few years, and they’ve released some pretty impressive slots – Money Train, Money Train 2 and Iron Bank being a few notable examples. Relax Gaming has also developed a multi-content aggregation platform called the Silver Bullet platform – and this now sees Relax Gaming hosting – and pushing out – content from other game developers from around the world.
What are the bet limits in Zombie Circus?
Like most of Relax Gaming’s slots, Zombie Circus comes with a wide variety of betting limits. This ensures that players on all budgets can enjoy the game – and you’ll be pleased to know that the minimum bet is just 0.10 credits – far lower than we typically see from game developers today. What’s more, Zombie Circus has a really high maximum bet of 100 credits – and this ensures that the so-called “whales” can get in on the action too!
How does the Free Spins bonus round in Zombie Circus work?
Before the Free Spins bonus round in Zombie Circus begins, you’ll be asked to pick from a number of zombies on your screen. The Zombies you pick will determine how many free spins you’re awarded (either 5 or 10), and it will also determine which symbols will be transformed into wilds. For the duration of the bonus round, these symbols are permanently wild – thus increasing your chances of forming a win and giving you a better chance of walking away with a respectable hit!
Does Zombie Circus have a progressive jackpot?
No. Unfortunately, Zombie Circus doesn’t have a progressive jackpot. Relax Gaming don’t appear to be too keen on progressive jackpots, and unlike software providers like NetEnt, Microgaming and Yggdrasil, they are yet to really start pushing out progressive jackpot slots. That being said, that doesn’t mean they won’t in the future – but for now, if you want progressive jackpots, you’re best off looking for a different game developer.
