Aztec Chief Slot Review
Aztec Chief is a new AGS slot based on the ancient Aztec Empire. It has 75 paylines and offers up plenty of bonuses, including free spins, wild reels, and three potential game jackpots. We’ve been lucky enough to give this video slot a try already in demo mode, but if you want to give it a turn yourself, you can stay right here and try it in demo play.
Aztec Chief slot - Our thoughts on this theme
There are hundreds, if not thousands, of slots based on the Aztecs. It is a fascinating topic, so it’s easy to see why so many slots choose this as their base. However, it does make it difficult for a new slot to stand out. Aztec Chief uses lots of typical Aztec symbols, including daggers, eagles and jaguars; Aztec Jaguar and Eagle warriors were considered the bravest and best soldiers.
Our verdict on the Aztec Chief graphics
The graphics of Aztec Chief are very good, but the way the screen is set up makes it difficult to appreciate all of the small details right away. Alongside the game grid, players will see a pyramid that marks the number of wilds you’ve received and leads toward larger prizes.

Aztec Chief has a straightforward gameplay that will be instantly familiar to most slots players. Here’s a quick overview of the main game controls to help you get started:
- Load the game up and use the + and - buttons to set your opening bet in the base game. Alternatively, you can use the Max Bet button.
- Press the spin button to start the game.
- Hit the menu button to reveal the game rules and paytable amounts for each symbol. You can also press the '?' symbol to go immediately to the menu.

How to Win
Wins are scored in the Aztec Chief slot by matching combos of at least three symbols on one of the game’s 75 paylines (apart from the wild symbol, where players will only have to match two icons to get a win). The game is played over a five-reel, three-row grid and has a pyramid counter next to it that counts up bonuses.
Top Symbols
Aztec Chief has nine winning symbols, including an Aztec Chief, a jaguar, and playing card symbols. The best-paying symbol in the game is the wild, which gives you a max win of 500x when you match five symbols on a payline. The smallest prizes come courtesy of the J and Q, which both provide a top payout potential of 35x the current stake.
Betting limits
Bets in Aztec Chief start at 0.75 and go up to 75.
Aztec Chief bonus features
Aztec Chief is full of bonuses, including wild reels, free spins and a pick bonus. If you're a fan of games with lots of bonuses and you're looking for your next slot, you might want to check out IGT's Cats online slot offering free spins and lots of win multiplier options.
Wilds
Any time you collect a golden eagle coin on the reels, it will move to the top of the reel. Collecting two of these coins above a reel will turn it wild for the next two spins. Any symbol on the wild reel will transform into a wild symbol, except for the pyramid, which turns into a Golden wild.
The ordinary wild can stand in for all other symbols except the Golden wild, the pyramid, and the eagle coin. The Golden wild can replace all game symbols apart from the eagle coin.
Free spins
Landing at least three of the pyramid scatter symbol or the Golden wild will trigger the free spins bonus, giving you 7 free spins. If you snag a special eagle coin during the free spins round, the reel it lands on will turn wild for the rest of the free spins. All of the symbols on the reel will turn wild, and any pyramids will transform into the Golden wild.
You can also gain more free spins if you land more Golden wilds or any more of the pyramid scatter symbol:
- 2 of either symbol provides 2 free spins
- 3 gives you another 3 free tries
- 4 adds another 5 free spins to your total
- 5 of either symbol gives you 10 free spins

Aztec Chief Review - Our Verdict
An Aztec-themed game is nothing unusual, but the Aztec Chief bonus selection manages to set it apart from the rest. Not only are there two different wilds, which deliver the power to turn a whole reel wild, but free spins and three jackpots guarantee that gameplay isn’t boring.
