Introduction 

Released in June 2017, Skywind's Flaming Phoenix is a slot with a mythical theme. The phoenix is the wild in this game, and appears on reels 3, 4 and 5 during the base game. Theme, Graphics & Soundtrack 

Although the mythology of the phoenix has its origins in the world of Ancient Greece, Flaming Phoenix has been given a distinctly Far Eastern theme, with both the soundtrack and sound effects taking their inspiration from traditional Japanese and Chinese music. The reels are framed in gold and reflect the flames from a background of fiery mountains, between which runs a river of lava with fire leaping from it. Its symbols are in keeping with the theme too, which is effective. They include an engraved, golden bowl, a beautiful phoenix feather, a pagoda, a tree silhouetted in the setting sun and a stylised golden cloud. The lower tier ace to 9 symbols are all edged in gold.

Flaming Phoenix Bonus Features

Free Spins Feature

Landing 3 or more scatters will trigger 10 free games. During the bonus round, the free games wild, a bigger phoenix can appear on reels 2 and 4. These can multiply any wins they contribute to by 1, 3 or 5 times. If 2 free games wilds contribute to a win, their multipliers are added together for the win. The regular wild continues to appear on reel 3. Scatters are also still in play during the bonus round and 3 or more of them can retrigger a further 8 free games.

Flaming Phoenix Review

While the Far Eastern theme is common in slots, Flaming Phoenix still looks and sounds good. It also has a neat little feature where, after a win, you can review the paytable to see your latest wins flashing in blue. It teases an exciting bonus round and the chance of multiple line wins as the multiplier bonus wilds can come in stacked at times. However its high volatility and slightly lower than average RTP means you will have to be patient. While we triggered 3 bonus rounds, we did not see anything more than a 1x multiplier on a win during our test spins.

At the time of testing there was also no credit balance visible and the autoplay had no loss limits to set.
