Inspired expands their Megaways portfolio with what could be their least creative entry yet. Gimme Gold! Megaways is the title of the slot and it's a game that borrows heavily from Blueprint Gaming's gemstone-themed Diamond Mine Megaways slot, that was the first non-BTG Megaways release.

Format and Betting Options

Gimme Gold Megaways is played with a standard Megaways rig that consists of six primary reels and a four-symbol horizontal extra row at the upper edge of the screen.

2 to 7 symbols can appear randomly on the central reels, creating up to 117,749 ways to win at maximum capacity, as in other Megaways slots. The grid is set in a gorge, surrounded by cacti and rickety wooden support beams, with clouds moving quickly through the sky – it seems to be very windy. The game can be played from between 0.20 and 10 credits per spin

Graphics and Theme

It’s clear what the theme of Gimme Gold Megaways is; it’s based around a mining theme, and, as we just mentioned, it does indeed look very similar to Blueprint Gaming’s Diamond Mine slot.

To be honest, while the graphics are fairly impressive, the game is lacking slightly in creativity - and this is going to start becoming much more apparent in the remainder of this slot review.

Gimme Gold Megaways’ RTP, Volatility and Payouts

When three to six matching icons drop adjacently from the leftmost reel, a winning combination is created. The prospector sign is an exception, since it pays only when two or more land. Gold carts, picks, and shovels round out the valuable symbols, each worth 2-7.5x the bet for six of a kind wins.

9-A letters, drawn in a traditional Western-style font, make up the low value symbols at the bottom of the paytable. Before we get into the features, there's one more symbol to mention: the explosion wild, which features only on the upper reel and substitutes for all symbols except the bonus scatter.

Like with most Megaway slots, Gimme Gold Megaways is highly volatile, and the slot has an RTP of 95.50%; a tad lower than we’d like, but not the worst we’ve ever seen - especially from Inspired!

If we’re being completely honest, there isn’t a whole lot going on in Gimme Gold Megaways - especially nothing we haven’t seen before. Still, there’s a few bonuses and features to look out for, and we’ll be taking a look at what these are below.

Cascading Reels

Cascading Reels - also known as Tumbling Reels or Win Reactions - is a type of game mechanic that’s found within many Megaways slots, and it’s proven itself to be a popular mechanic with players. In Gimme Gold Megaways, when a win is formed, any of the symbols that are involved with that win then disappear from the reels, and new ones drop down to take their place. This process continues for as long as new wins are formed.

Mystery Symbols

Mystery symbols make an appearance in Gimme Gold Megaways, and these can land in both the base-game and the free spins feature. When they land, once all of the reels have stopped spinning, they will all transform into one of the regular paying symbols - increasing your chances of forming a win.

Free Spins

During the base-game, landing 4 or more of the scatter symbols anywhere in view will trigger the game’s main free spins bonus round. You will then be awarded 12 free spins, and this is a classic Megaways free spins bonus, with an unlimited multiplier coming into play; this multiplier increases by 1X on each winning cascade.

Gimme Gold Megaways Review

While we really like what Inspired Gaming has done with their Megaways license in the past, we can’t help but feel as though Gimme Gold Megaways is the least innovative of the Megaways slots they’ve pushed out. With releases like Centurion Megaways and Desperados Wild, Inspired Gaming set the bar pretty high for themselves with Gimme Gold Megaways

Unfortunately, it looks as though they’ve missed the boat slightly. With so many Megaways slots already saturating the online gambling market, game developers really need to be innovative when coming out with new games. Unfortunately, that’s just something missing from Gimme Gold Megaways.

Still, we’re sure it’ll do fairly well - as all Megaways slots do. We’d like to see the software provider being a little bit more creative in future releases, however, and hope to see their next release offering something a bit more exciting!
