One of the biggest online gaming companies around, Playtech, has announced it will soon launch North Star Bets. North Star Bets, according to the London-listed gaming giant, should soon see the light of the day in Ontario, Canada.
The launch is a result of a contract signed earlier this year. Playtech will be the company-in-charge for providing its famous IMS platform, casino games, and live casino tables. After the casino launch, Northstarbets.ca players can expect to see the poker interface launched later in 2022.
New Star on the Casino Sky
The chief operating officer at Playtech, Shimon Akad, said the launch is a crucial milestone in the company’s strategy. It comes as no surprise that the strategy boils down to expanding across as many regulated markets in North America as possible. “Essential to Playtech’s success is our ability to form key strategic partnerships with industry-leading operators around the world,” Akad added.
They believe NorthStar Bets has the potential to become one of the best operators in the whole of Ontario. The COO also accentuated that the operator and Playtech will endorse responsible gaming on all levels, which aligns with Ontario licensing laws.
Michael Moskowitz, the CEO at NorthStar Gaming, said that North Star Bets puts customers into the “center of an immersive and content-driven experience.” They think the partnership with one of the best and biggest providers in the world will lead to a superb online gaming experience for all players, accompanied by a high level of protection.
"Consumers are looking for content that caters to their individual preferences and interests, and alongside Playtech’s unrivaled multichannel technology, we are uniquely positioned to become a leader in the Canadian iGaming market,” said Moskowitz.

Online Gaming in Ontario
Ontario's authorities regulated online gaming just recently, in April 2022. The new launch of the online gaming market included both casino gaming and sports betting sites. With updated legislation, private operators will need to register and pay tax in exchange for legal access to players in the province.
Even though many greeted the new approach to online gaming, there were also those opposing it. As many online gaming companies celebrated, the opponents to the legalization proclaimed how it would be the death of brick-and-mortar casinos in the state. Before the new law kicked in, it was estimated Ontarians spent $500 million a year on online gaming with unlicensed brands.
