Theme, Graphics & Soundtrack

The dark foreboding environment of the game’s backdrop is punctuated with crystals and mushrooms and a blue shimmering maze outline. Nothing problematic so far.

The game’s symbols are half monsters of indeterminate lineage, and half-inscripted rocks. There are crabs crossed with dinosaurs, bulls crossed with Vikings and the rest are subject to interpretation. Happily, all you will need to do is create some combinations with them, not figure them out.

The Knight himself doesn’t seem bothered by the weird creatures, in fact, he’s positively beaming. Probably glad to be out of that medieval borefest he originated from. As you play, you’ll see that instead of spinning the reels, each play is more akin to a snapshot that allows our hero to navigate his way across the maze.

How to Play Maze

1. Use the i button in the bottom left corner of the screen to view the paytable, rules and settings.

2. To play in autoplay mode, you just need to press and hold the main spin button in the bottom centre of the screen.

Maze Bonus Features

Knight Symbol

This is the holy grail symbol that you want to land. The Knight will appear in the bottom left of the reels in every spin. It can substitute for all of the other main symbols. And if you win, he won’t leave. He’ll just move to the maze exit by dropping until he gets there...

Free Spins

...and when he does, he’ll trigger one of three different types of Free Spin.

Yellow Cave: The Yellow Wild symbols always appear by 3 symbols in the same stack.
Purple Cave: The Purple Wild symbol creates its mirror copy on the reel.

Our Verdict    

Maze is more advanced than many other adventure themed slots, thanks to its innovative method of gameplay where the main character works his way across the screen to an endpoint, collecting wins and features along the way. This title kicks the adventure slot genre up a notch to better reflect an adventurer’s pioneering principles.

And talking of features, there is no slacking in this department with plenty to keep you interested. There are no less than three types of Free Spin available, plus three types of random blast to shake up the symbols and create new wins.

The max theoretical win isn’t the best, but we would recommend that you judge the game on win consistency and value, as theoretical wins are not always the best barometer—or remotely achievable.
