Theme, Graphics & Soundtrack

Shogun of Time has been really beautifully designed. The base game is clearly set some time in the future of Japan, with cherry blossoms to the sides and the Tokyo skyline visible behind a high-tech-looking window the reels spin on.

Below the reels is a sort of portal, which is important when the Reel Splitter activates as you’ll see it power up and force out an additional reel.

Find three cherry blossom Scatters to go back in time to a much more traditional look at Japan and notice the almost-identical Wild women’s change in appearance.

Throughout the game there’s a simple yet enjoyable Japanese melody. We did find it a little repetitive after a while, but it was inoffensive and in keeping with the theme of the slot.

Only available in the base game, the Reel Splitter respins feature can trigger when you land a winning combination of four symbols along a payline. When it does, the portal will light up and push a fifth reel into the middle of the reels. The other reels will remain locked, and the new reel will spin once to give you the chance to hit even more winning combinations. This feature not only gives you a 5x3 reel grid but also increases the winning ways from 81 to 243.

Free Spins Round

Unlock 8 or 14 free spins by finding three or four Scatter symbols anywhere on the reels.
