Golden Thee
The theme of Aztlan's Gold by Habanero is supposed to be a lighthearted take on the Spanish conquistadors' attacks on Central America. Christopher Columbus’s first circumnavigation of the world was in 1492, and 30 years later, the Spanish Crown set up trade routes to Central America. It became apparent that the natives had gold - and a lot of it - and the Spanish were hungry for gold as it was the first form of cold, hard cash. It took them 50 years to get the logistics right to invade, but once they did, they didn’t hold back. The booty made the King of Spain the richest king in Europe.
Cities of Gold
The existence of gold in Central America fuelled the dream of hidden treasure, as pirates plundered ships returning home to Europe and hid the gold elsewhere. In this game, we’re not sure which side we’re on - the looters or the Aztecs. All we know is that we’re trying to match symbols of Aztec-inspired designs like the axe and amulet, the condor, the princess and the chief. There is also a cat goddess acting as the Wild who can substitute for all other symbols.
The scatter in this game is a sun shield, and the Jackpot piece is the hieroglyph. There is also a progressive jackpot, which can be triggered at the end of any spin.

The gods are on your side
While the game is basic in most regards, it does have a couple of bonuses. The goddess symbol can replace any of the symbols and expands on her entire reel when a combination is made, leading to possible other combinations. She also multiplies the value of the win by two. The sun shield scatter pays in any position across the reels and leads to free spins when you land three or more. There is also a multiplier thrown into the win to make it more valuable, and the free spins feature can be retriggered.
Play your way
Perhaps what makes this game stand out from the rest is the level of customization. We’re seeing it less and less these days, but choosing your paylines is still a great way to add tension to your game while managing your play budget. T
he game is also available across all devices so you can play this and many other slots at home or on the go on your mobile and tablet. Choose whether you want to be the conquistador or the protector of the treasure and come on down to the jungle. The story might be fictional, but the wins are real.
