Egyptian Wild offers something a little different to the more traditional five-reel setups, as fixed wilds occupy the central reel. Theme, graphics & soundtrack

The reels are set against the side of a pyramid, with flames to each side and desert and blue skies in the background. It all seems a little cliched and is certainly nothing new, but World Match has done a decent enough job of setting the scene. The symbols are bright and bold and certainly do not get lost on the reels, making wins easily identifiable - particularly as the third reel is wild anyway. The flames shooting up to accompany a decent win are a nice touch.

The soundtrack is a little fast-paced but as the reels spin quite fast, this adds to the urgency of the game. This is not a chilled-out game, with the music reflecting this. Some of the sounds are reminiscent of old-style arcade games, seeming a little out of place and rather noisy. You may find that the sounds detract from the overall enjoyment of the game.

How to play Egyptian Wild

1. Check the game settings to ensure they are to your liking. 
2. Choose your stake. You can bet between 0.15 and 1,500 per spin. The 15-payline structure cannot be changed.
3. If you hit ‘max stake’, the reels will automatically spin providing your balance will cover the bet.
4. Decide whether you want to autoplay. You can select how many spins to autoplay up to 1,000.
5. There is no lightning play option; however, the reels land quickly, so this is not really an issue.

Four scatter symbols anywhere in view award 15 free spins, while three scatter symbols anywhere in view award 10 free spins. Free spins cannot be retriggered. The free spins seem to play at turbo speed and are over quickly, which is frustrating given the amount of time it can take to trigger them.

Bonus game 

Three bonus symbols anywhere in view trigger the bonus game. During the bonus game, gems will fall until the screen is filled. Each time a line of valid gems is completed, a prize is awarded. The bonus round is completed when the game area is completely filled.

Random multiplier

The setup of the game with wilds on reel three lends itself to fairly regular returns, so the addition of a random multiplier to all wins can be significant. A multiplier of between 1x and 5x is randomly awarded with every win. 

Egyptian Wild review: our verdict 

Egyptian Wild is not likely to get your pulse racing with its theming and styling, as is all a bit samey; however, the mechanics of the game offer something fresh. The bonuses can take a while to trigger, perhaps owing to there only being four spinning reels as opposed to the more traditional five, so the fixed wilds offer some welcome returns until a bonus is hit.
