Theme, Graphics & Soundtrack

CT Gaming is really hoping that you will be dazzled by a few gems scattered across the screen, thus distracting you from the fact that very little effort has gone into the game. There is a flat, squashed look to the screen in some parts, like the title, yet the reels, for instance, appear to be unnaturally stretched. Very strange.

The background shows two castle dwellings. Competing household perhaps? We don’t know. There is no narrative, just this background scene and some jewels on the reels. You will need to use your imagination if this is important to you.

And as you will know if you have played other CT Gaming titles, there is no soundtrack, even though you will be asked on the startup page if you want music, Only if you let the game go idle will you get anything of the sort, when it decides to wake you up! And it’s really annoying, like an early Noughties ringtone that the office ‘joker’ still uses. Luckily one spin is all it takes to send it silent again. If only that worked on the office joker.

As far as game sound effects, there’s a few clicks, a coin jingle and a short burst of...something, if you win. Nothing to write home about so we suggest you choose your own music because you won’t be missing anything by sticking this game on mute.

How to Play 50 Shining Jewels

1. Use the blue 'i' button in the top left corner of the screen to view the win amounts for each combination.

2. To play in autoplay mode, use the green settings icon in the bottom left of the screen and adjust the AUTOPLAY settings using the plus and minus buttons.

3. In the bottom centre of the screen the total bet amount is displayed. You can adjust this by clicking the green settings icon in the bottom left of the screen. Once you’re in the settings you can adjust the line bet using the plus and minus buttons. In demo mode, the number of lines played is fixed at 100.

4. To start play, click the large red SPIN button in the bottom right of the screen.

Our Verdict    

This is surely a classic style slot, in that it is very basic and has no features. We can’t help but feel that the ‘classic’ genre is being abused by lazy developers who paste some fruit or gem clip art over their standard interface and call it a new game. This would be a prime offender and example.

This game is nearly identical to several other CT Gaming titles. Perhaps that is what you’re looking for, but these games pale in comparison to others out there. Taking into account the average RTP, low combination payouts and a clunky interface...why would you choose this title over the plethora of better options out there?
