Overall Theme 

There is an Asian theme to this slot which is mixed with adventure as the reels are set against a backdrop of a sailing ship. The graphics need a fair bit of work in this slot. The ships just move backwards and forwards over and over again, and after a while it gets a bit annoying. The mixture of Asian themed symbols and then the random giraffes and adventure seems odd. We didn’t find the gameplay very entertaining based on this, and it’s not a slot that offers up anything unique. Wild Symbol 

The wild symbol is represented by the map, and it can substitute in for all of the other symbols in the game, excluding the scatter. Because it can do this it will help to form more wins on the reels for the players. 

Free Spins 

The scatter symbol, which is represented by the compass, can only land on the second and sixth reels during the base game. In the free spins round it can only land on the first and fifth reels. Landing three, four or five of these symbols in either rounds will get you 10, 25 or 50 free spins respectively. 

As well as this, landing four scatter symbols gives you a 10x multiplier on your total bet, and five will get you a 50x multiplier. Unfortunately, landing only three scatter symbols just gives you the free spins and no prize. 

Zheng He Special Symbol 

In the free spins round the Zheng He symbol appears stacked on the reels. If he lands again and nudges other Zheng He symbols, these will then expand to fill the entire reel. During both the base game and the free spins round any reel that has been filled with stacked Zheng He symbols turns into a full-height version of this symbol. And it will act as a wild for the remainder of its time on the reels. 

Our Verdict 

Unfortunately, The Great Voyages isn’t all that great. The bonus features are lacklustre and the gameplay is lacking. The graphics need a lot more attention, and we were overall pretty disappointed with what was on offer here. The math model is pretty much all this title has going for it, even though the maximum win is on the low side too.
