We can’t say whether this is intentional or not. CT Gaming use the same layout and interface across all of their titles, which is somewhat perplexing as it’s not very good. The one plus point is that it should meet accessibility guidelines, but there are better ways of achieving this.

If you have played any other CT Gaming titles, you will know by now that sound and music are minimal to non-existent. The jingle you hear as the game opens will only be repeated if you let the game go idle and it wants to remind you to play. There are very few game sound effects, and they are the same as those found across their other titles, as is the interface.

How to Play 40 Shining Coins

1. Use the blue i button in the top left corner of the screen to view the win amounts for each combination.

Our Verdict

In this game, the use of cartoony fruit in a basic interface will make you feel like you have been whisked back to the casino equivalent of Life on Mars. Unfortunately, there are no entertainingly politically incorrect characters to keep you entertained here.

It may tout itself as a classic style online slot, but even dads are discerning these days. This is why we’re not going to give CT a pat on the back for finally introducing a Wild and Scatter about 20 years after every other developer.

As is always the case with CT Gaming, the response times for even the most basic actions, such as selecting sound on or off, are bewilderingly slow. Whether this is just for the free demos or not, it’s something that needs to be looked into as it will likely alienate a lot of people.

If you’ve never played an online slot - or even a physical fruit machine - before, you might enjoy this for a bit. If you’ve played the vast array of sophisticated and feature-laden online slots out there, however, your enjoyment of this very basic game is going to be limited.
