Introduction
Neon Valley Studios are a small iGaming developer who work exclusively for Microgaming. They produce a range of games in-house which are then pushed out via Microgaming’s Quickfire platform, and Noble Sky is the latest release to greet our screens. The game’s pretty fun and is built around a steampunk theme - something which we’ve seen quite a lot from Microgaming’s small studios. Clearly, it’s a theme they know well - and they’re not afraid to use it!
Format and RTP
Noble Sky is built around a 5-reel, 3-row format and there are a total of 25 fixed paylines in play. Unlike many of Microgaming's earlier titles you’re not able to adjust the number of paylines active on each spin, and this means the minimum bet to play Noble Sky is 0.25 credits. Still, that should suit most players and it’s low enough to fit into most gambling budgets. If you’re looking to “up the ante” and take more of a risk you’ll be pleased to know that you can wager up to 50 credits on Noble Sky per spin too - so it’s a game that lends itself well to both low and high-rollers.
Visually, Noble Sky looks the part and you’ll see the reels set on a dystopian backdrop of red colors - presumably a sunset, viewed from a blimp in the sky! Noble Sky has a fixed RTP of 96.12%, and this does not change depending on the casino. Neon Valley Studios have also been kind enough to release information about the game’s hit-frequency which is 44.45%. This means that wins are very common - although the majority of these wins will actually be losing spins - it just means that you hit a 3-of-a-kind or better on any spin.

Noble Sky’s Symbols And Payouts
One thing we’ve noticed - and this goes both for video slots created by Microgaming and those developed by their in-house/partner studios - is that the vast majority of their games use royal symbols to deposit the game’s lower-paying icons. In the case of Noble Sky you’ll find 9, 10, J, Q, K and A on the reels, and they’re presented in a strange-looking font. They don’t pay a great deal and even 5-of-a-kind combos are worth just a few times your stake, so you’ll want to land the higher-paying symbols which we’ll talk about below, instead.
Noble Sky has a few theme-specific symbols - all of which count as the game’s “premium” symbols (the ones that pay the best) and these include a Compass, a Top Hat and three Characters. The Captain is the highest-value symbol in Noble Sky although even then he’s only worth 20X your stake for a 5-of-a-kind combo so it’s definitely nothing to get excited about.
Re-Spins Feature
If, during the base-game, you manage to land the Airship Wild symbol fully in view (meaning it covers the entire reel that it lands on) you’ll trigger a re-spin feature. You will then get a number of free re-spins, and on each re-spin the wild symbol moves one position to the left. The re-spins continue for as long as the wild appears on the screen, and once it reaches the left-hand-side you’ll be awarded one final re-spin feature. The bonus will then end and you’ll return to regular base-game play.
During this re-spin feature there’s also something called the Multiplier Trail bonus active. On each re-spin, a multiplier increases in value; the first, second, third, fourth and fifth re-spins award a multiplier worth 1X, 2X, 3X, 5X and 10X respectively. It’s actually possible to form some pretty decent-sized wins from the re-spins feature, especially if you land some 5-of-a-kind combos with the 10X multiplier in play!
Vault Bonus
If you look to the bottom left-hand-corner of the screen you’ll notice that there’s a gold collection pot. This is Noble Sky’s “vault”, and on any base-game spin a gold coin may randomly appear, attached/overlaid to one of the regular paying symbols on the reels. Each time one of these coins lands in view it’s added to this vault, and when it’s filled completely you’ll trigger the Vault Bonus.
You will then be taken to a new screen where you’ll see 12 coins in view. You’re simply tasked with picking from these 12 coins, revealing various coloured items, each of which corresponds to one of the four static jackpots in the game. You simply keep picking until you match three of the same jackpot symbols, and doing so will award that subsequent jackpot. The jackpot amounts in Noble Sky are worth 15X, 40X, 500X and 5,000X your stake.
Our Verdict Of Noble Sky
Neon Valley Studios have done an excellent job with Noble Sky; the unique Steampunk-esque theme reminds us a little bit of Thunderkick’s Riders of the Storm or NetEnt’s Steamtower - and if that kind of theme is up your street and you like high volatility slots, Noble Sky may well be a game you’ll want to consider playing for real money.
We really like that there’s four static jackpots to be won, and while you won’t become a millionaire from playing, the maximum win-potential of 5,000X your stake means the slot competes with many modern video slots and there’s some great win-potential to be found. We should also point out that you can walk away with some pretty decent-sized wins from the regular bonus round features too, so it’s not all about the local jackpots!
On the whole, Noble Sky is a good effort from Neon Valley Studios and while it’s unlikely to become a huge hit we’d expect it to get a fair amount of play-time. Remember, you can try out Noble Sky completely free here at Slots Temple; no account creation or sign-up required!
