Theme, graphics and soundtrack

There isn’t a lot to say about the visuals and other sensory features. The game claims an Asian association, but it doesn’t really live up to the claim. Yes, there are a few images from Chinese iconography, but there is nothing else about the graphics to suggest this has been carefully thought about. It’s basically a rudimentary slot game with Chinese icons in place of fruit. 

Equally disappointing are the sounds. You’re given the option to turn them on or off, but it makes little difference as there is no soundtrack - just a few clicks and bangs, plus a dramatic chord when you land a win. Because of the high variance, what animation there is occurs rarely and is limited to a nodding dragon, a fizzing firecracker and flashing letters.

How to play Xingyun Baoshu

1. Click on the coin icon to the right of the play button to call up the bet selection menu. Here you can select the number of lines you wish to play and the bet per line, from 0.01 to 0.50. Click the coin icon again to close the menu.
2. The amount of credit available for betting is shown at the top left.
3. Click the Spin button to start the reels.
4. Alternatively, click the Auto Spin button to the left of the play button to call up the auto play menu. Here you can select 10, 20, 50 or 100 auto spins. 
5. Line wins are multiplied by the bet per payline. All wins pay left to right. Only the highest win on selected paylines will pay out.

If 3, 4 or 5 scattered Dragon symbols appear anywhere on the reels, they will trigger, respectively, 15, 20 or 25 free spins. Cracker symbols expand to cover all positions on their reels before line wins are awarded. Free spins are played using the same paylines and bets as in the triggering game. Free spins may be retriggered a maximum of 15 times.

Substitute

The Cracker symbol appears only on reels 1, 3 and 5, and it substitutes for all other symbols except scattered Dragon symbols. Payouts are tripled when the substitute symbol appears in a line win.

This is a fairly routine gaming experience. The Asian theme is nominal at best, while the gameplay and graphics are fairly undistinguished. What extras there are come straight from the usual shopping list and add nothing new. Combine that with a low RTP and maximum payout of only 3000,x and it’s hard to find much to recommend spending more than a short time playing this particular game.
