When you hear the name “6 Tokens of Gold” and find out it’s from a Microgaming studio, it’s understandable if you’d think it’s yet another clone like 9 Masks of Fire or 9 Pots of Gold. You’d be wrong, though. This game features strays away from the format we’ve frequently seen used in those games and brings players somewhat of a fresh online gaming experience.

Theme and Graphics

In 6 Tokens of Gold, the game takes its design inspiration from classic fruit machines. You’ll encounter all of the traditional symbols like 7s, cherries, lemons and horseshoes. It’s not a super inventive theme but it’s still a good-looking game and we can’t really fault the overall aesthetic aside from being a bit basic.

Overall Review

6 Tokens of Gold doesn’t offer much innovation in terms of slot gameplay – but, it’s a welcome change from the same format that we’ve seen in Playboy Fortunes, 9 Pots of Gold, 9 Masks of Fire and Hyperstrike. So, we’re pleased to see a Microgaming studio mix it up a little bit.

Unfortunately, the top prize is a tad lower than we’d like to see. Normally, in a medium volatility game, we tend to see max wins of 2000x or more – so, 6 Tokens of Gold doesn’t really compare.

The free spins round can be retriggered, which is nice, and the respins feature can be retriggered from within the free spins bonus. So, it’s a good combination of bonus features that aim to keep the excitement coming.

So, overall, 6 Tokens of Gold is a pretty standard, fruit machine-inspired game – but, there is fun to be had while spinning the reels. Still, we’d like to see a bit more innovation coming from Microgaming-related studios in the future.
