Dragon’s Cave is a dramatic slot that is full of drama and warlike imagery. The top of the paytable shows two warriors and a shaman, followed by a sword and a shield. The usual playing card symbols make up the lower end, but the standard paytable is just a tiny part of Dragon’s Cave’s wide appeal.

Theme, graphics & design

Dragon’s Cave is quite a technological feat, perfectly replicating the vibe of role-playing video games such as Skyrim and The Witcher while retaining enough personality to stand out on its own. The background is particularly impressive, showing a far north setting with snow falling and an imperious mountain range in the distance. The sky is dark, tumultuous and full of drama. 

A frozen lake takes up most of the background, with some rugged fir trees across the water. A Norse warrior will occasionally appear alongside the reels, striking his shield with his sword and generally playing along as you spin. He isn’t always present; however, rather than this being a drawback, we enjoyed the idea that the character has a life of his own and lives outside the reels, only appearing occasionally. 

There is no music, but this isn’t too much of an issue. The ambient sounds are incredible, including the sound of the snow, the rattle of the warrior's armour and even the sound of the wind through the trees. Some of the symbols won’t be to everybody’s taste - the character symbols are blocky, in keeping with their RPG styling - but this is a deliberate design choice rather than a shortcoming.

Dragon's Cave is a medium volatility slot, so it shouldn’t be as daunting as its warrior imagery suggests. The top prize is 2,000x but we can’t tell you anything about RTP because this is yet to be released.
