Theme, graphics and soundtrack

As this game is based very firmly on the fruit machine format, it doesn’t have a specific theme, although the background does feature an attractive purple geometric representation of a modern cityscape. The grid features dressing room lighting at each side as an extra nod to the urban flavour, while the reels themselves are very clean-lined with a pale lilac background and simple dividers. The icons are boldly rendered with some nice lighting effects, and the paylines are picked out in vibrant purple lines that show multiple wins first, then each one individually. Wins are announced in a bright gold animation of coins cascading out of the screen against a dimmed background.

As is too often the case, the soundtrack lets the game down. It is no more interesting than the average ‘on-hold’ music and uses a simple electro-pop loop without any variation. It seems curiously unconnected with the events of the game. Commissioning original music is obviously expensive, but it feels as if a little more effort could have gone into finding a better match.

How to play Fruits Deluxe

Win Multiplier

Whenever you win, a Multiplier number may appear. Any winning in the current game round will multiply by the value of the multiplier number. This applies during the base game only.

Extra Wilds

While the reels are spinning, up to 8 Wild Symbols could appear and increase the winning chances. Wild Symbols may multiply the winning line by 2x or 3x. This applies during the base game only.

Triggering Bonus

When a Bonus Symbol lands on a reel, it will light up. If you light all 5 reels, you will trigger a Bonus Game. When a Bonus Reel lights, the bonus value of the round will be saved. The average amount of the 5 reels will serve as a base for the winning multipliers in your bonus and will be used as the bet value in the case of free spins.

If you’re looking for a good retro game, there are others around with higher variance and higher RTP. Both these issues count against this game. However, if you can live with the implications of these aspects, there is plenty to enjoy here with smart, simple graphics and a nice mix of bonus features.
