The skull and crossbones backdrop seems like a missed opportunity when we might have been treated to a stage set-up or a crowd scene. 

As for the soundtrack, since this is a rock-themed game, you might expect something substantial. The designers have gone for a 1980s-style AOR sound, which isn’t the worst thing about it. The trouble is that the whole track sounds like the intro - for a moment it gets past the opening bars to a guitar solo, but then it loops back to the start again. It can be a little frustrating that it never really gets going.

According to the makers, Parrots Rock has an RTP of 95 per cent, which is below average. However, other sources claim it to be as low as 94.5 per cent. The variance is low.

Overall, Parrots Rock has a number of decent features, and the central idea is quite diverting. However, the animation is a little tame, and with both low variance and low RTP, it doesn’t seem like the game to wrest the crown from the leading games in this field.
