Theme, Graphics and Soundtrack

Stakelogic have let their designers go to town on Midnight Rush. The visuals are hugely detailed and extremely atmospheric. The player’s position is behind a wall of gravestones flanked by two gnarled trees. An eerie light is cast by two candles, mysteriously placed on one of the gravestones as a welcome or a warning. You look across towards the forbidding gates into the grounds of what may be Castle Dracula, where the lights in the windows are the only sign of life in an otherwise barren landscape. A vast full moon casts a chilly blue light on the scene, and occasional bolts of lightning strike the ground. There is thunder yet there is no rain. And what is going on behind the curtains in the gatekeeper’s lodge?

The reels are transparent, so you never lose sight of the background. The symbols are equally well drawn, and the playing card symbols are all represented by cracked, mouldering gravestones. The soundtrack is similarly on-theme, with the portentousness and urgency of any classic horror movie’s incidental music. The reels' sound effects are simple and appropriate to the mood, but there is no crashing accompaniment for any of the wins. All in all, it’s a very fine piece of slot design.

How to Play Midnight Rush

Expanded Wild Symbols

The Expanded Wild Symbols are groups of three Wild symbols on a reel. Depending on where these groups of three Wilds land on the reels, you may see any number of Wilds from one to three on a reel. Stakelogic have done a good job with a tried and tested theme. The game has good features, even if it does lack a few obvious elements - particularly free spins. There is nothing particularly innovative in the gameplay itself, but what really makes it stand out from the pack is the originality and quality of the design.
