Introduction

In Betsoft’s Stacked- a magical-themed game - the game is built around a rather unconventional 4X4 grid. Instead of reels spinning, each symbol position is a face-down playing card that turns over with the start of each spin - and while it does look quite cool at first, it is a little annoying on the eyes, especially as the spins take quite a long time to complete.

Still, Stacked will likely appeal to a large number of players thanks to its diverse array of betting options; you can wager as little as 0.20 credits - and as many as 120 - on every spin, and, as you’ll see from this Stacked slot review, there’s plenty of bonuses and features to look out for, too!

Graphics and Theme

When it comes to graphics and visuals, Betsoft are usually a pretty competent software provider - and Stacked is no exception. The presentation of the video slot is excellent, with stunning graphics, including a very lifelike Magician found on the right-hand-side of the reels.

You’ll find all the classic magic-inspired symbols in the game, including a Magic Wand, a Magician’s Hat and more - and there’s also some pretty fitting animations that tie in nicely to the theme - more on them in the “Bonuses and Features” section a little later in this review.

Stacked’s RTP and Volatility

Betsoft aren’t always known for producing games with the best RTPs - and that’s why we were pleased to see that Stacked offers an RTP of 96.39%. However, we should point out that Betsoft does offer its games in varying RTP settings, so some online casinos may choose to host the game at a lower percentage than the one advertised.

When it comes to volatility and variance, we’d say Stacked falls on the low-to-medium side of the spectrum. The maximum win per spin is just 664X your stake - which, while still a nice win, is very low compared to most video slots released today - and we found that it’s very common to form “wins” in the base-game - although, a lot of the time, these wins will actually be worth less than the amount of money you’re staking on each spin.

Bonus Features

Like we see in many of Betsoft’s games, Stacked is packed full of bonuses and features - and below, we’re going to be taking a look at what these bonuses are, and what happens when you trigger them!

Secret Trick

The Secret Trick feature triggers randomly during the base-game, and it can happen at any point during, or after the spin. When this trick is activated, a random number of mystery face-down playing cards are added to the reels. The reels then spin, and once they’ve stopped, all of the mystery playing cards are turned over, all revealing one symbol.

Fix The Trick

This is yet another randomly triggered bonus that appears during the base-game, and it can occur on any spin that isn’t a winning spin. When it happens, you’ll see the Magician on the right-hand-side of the reels spur into action, and he will then choose up to 8 random symbols from the reels, transforming them into a stack worth 3X the total value of the symbol’s values!

What’s more, if the Magician chooses a wild symbol, it will offer a payout worth as much as the game’s top-paying symbol - so again, despite being a fairly common base-game reel modifier, the “Fix The Trick’ bonus can result in some pretty decent-sized wins!

Sleight of Hand

On any spin during the base-game, there’s a chance that the Magician will randomly appear and “nudge” a reel up or down. This will potentially help you to form wins - and it can also nudge bonus symbols into view, which triggers the main bonus round in the game - details of which we’re going to be covering in the next section.

Mystery Wilds

While Betsoft call this feature Mystery Wilds, it’s actually a free spins bonus - and it’s triggered by landing three or more of the Mystery Box wild symbols anywhere in view during the base-game. Do so, and you’ll be awarded with 5 free spins.

Now, before the spins begin, you’ll see a funky little animation play out - and this is flipping the reels upside down. You will then be prompted to choose a number of spots (the more scatter symbols that triggered the bonus round, the more picks you get) and once you’ve made your selections, the free spins will begin.

The spins play out, and depending on your picks, the following reel modifiers can be applied to the gameplay:

• Magical Multiplier: If you choose a magical multiplier, you’ll enjoy a 2X, 3X or 4X multiplier applied against any wins that you manage to form during the free spins bonus.
• Spectacular Spins: If you uncover any “Spectacular Spins”, you’ll get an extra 2, 3 or 5 free spins added to your total; this is the only way or re-triggering the feature.
• Instant Win: The Instant Win squares award an instant cash payout worth either 5X, 10X or 20X your current stake. This amount is paid out after the free spins bonus has finished.
• Prismatic Reel: While rare to get, the Prismatic Reel feature fully transforms one of the reels into a wild reel for the duration of the bonus round. It’s possible to get more than one wild reel - and this, combined with a multiplier, is where the majority of the game’s win-potential is found!

Stacked Review

While we do like what Betsoft has tried to do with Stacked, we can’t help but feel they’ve somewhat missed the boat a little bit, when it comes to deliverables. Sure, the game looks impressive, there’s near-constant bonuses and features happening within the base-game, and there is some fairly decent win-potential - but, unfortunately, it just doesn’t feel like those big wins are ever actually going to come to fruition.

After a good couple of hours of testing the game ourselves - and with more than 10 of the main free-spins bonuses - we found ourselves unable to muster a win of more than 40X our stake. Plus, in all honesty, we found that the Mystery Wilds bonus (the free spins feature) tends to award instant coin wins far more than it does reel modifiers that actually help during the bonus round.

We do like that the RTP is pretty high - coming in at 96.39%. However, do remember that Betsoft offer their games in multiple RTP settings, so you may well find that online casinos choose to offer the game at a lower RTP than that advertised on this page.

On the whole, Stacked is a great-looking game, and it’s quite fun-to-play - but we don’t see it becoming one of Betsoft’s bigger hits, especially given the lack of any type of progressive jackpot - something that many players have become used to seeing in their games.
