Whenever you hear about celebrities and gambling, the story usually concerns gambling addiction of some sort. There are a few notable exceptions, such as Shannon Elizabeth, Jennifer Tilly and Sam Simon.

Ben Affleck used to fit into this category of non-problem gamblers – but the rumour mills have been churning since he was kicked out of a Las Vegas Casino for card counting.

At Slots Temple, we’re doubtful that there’s truth to many of these claims.

The Backstory

Last month, Ben Affleck was booted out of the Hard Rock Hotel and Casino in Las Vegas after casino staff discovered that he was card counting. While card counting is not actually cheating, casino managers are not particularly keen on players who count cards.

It gives players an ‘unfair advantage’ over the house, so most casinos will issue a warning against players who engage in this behaviour. Players who are known to count cards are likely to be barred.

New Rumours

Recently, new rumours have emerged that Ben Affleck was kicked out of yet another casino. This time, it was Caesars Casino in Windsor, Ontario. The reason was not revealed, but tabloids would have you thinking that it was due to him being a problem gambler:

“He seemed really frazzled like he had just lost a ton of money. He was smoking a cigarette and his head was down in his arms. When he sat up his eyes looked bloodshot, like he’d been there all night!”, a source told The Daily Mail.

Even More Rumours

This breaking story has resulted in even more rumours. The Daily Mail has also claimed that Affleck’s reported gambling problem has caused his wife Jennifer Garner to cancel their family vacation and threaten divorce.

“Jen canceled her trip. She just doesn’t want to be Ben’s enabler or babysitter. She was absolutely mortified about the Las Vegas incident, and everything has really gone downhill since then,” one source told Celebrity Dirty Laundry – which sounds like a completely reputable news outlet.

What We Think Really Happened

If Ben Affleck really was kicked out of a casino for a second time this year, it is likely that it is because he was caught counting cards in Las Vegas. Once word gets around that a player uses this particular skill, casino operators will do everything in their power to ensure that the player does not gamble at their venue. We’re fairly certain that this is the case.

As for Jennifer Garner cancelling the family vacation due to gambling, that definitely sounds like a rumour started by a tabloid to start trouble.
