Glu Mobile is one of the social gaming world’s most popular developers. Over the years, the company has created dozens of popular games that players can take part in via the Facebook App Centre (formerly known as Facebook Games) as well as on their mobile phones and tablet computers.

With a great foothold on the social gaming market, Glu Mobile is now making its way into the gambling world. This week, the company announced its plans to work with Probability PLC to create mobile slots games.

What will set Glu Mobile slots apart from the rest of the games provided by existing developers like Microgaming and IGT is the fact that they will feature popular characters and themes from their games.

While the company has not yet announced which titles will be featured in its collection of slots, we think it would be most fun to see games featuring characters from My Dragon, Ham on the Run and Samurais vs. Zombies. With these types of themes, we can certainly see Glu Mobile’s slots making a splash in the mobile gambling world.

Glu Mobile has issued a press release announcing its plans to enter the mobile gambling market. Catching wind of this news, Zynga is likely to be at least a little bit jealous. For months, Zynga has been releasing news about its interest in the online gambling market, and it has only jaust started to make moves towards launching its own real-money casino.

Glu may have been planning its entry in the market for just as long – but it has certainly beaten Zynga to the punch. The new Glu Mobile casino will be produced by Probability PLC.

The London-based company works with a wide range of well-known gambling operators like Paddy Power, William Hill and Ladbrokes. These partnerships will definitely come in handy for Glu Mobile, as it is likely that Probability PLC will distribute the new games through these channels and networks.

"We are delighted to be partnering with a pioneer and leader in the freemium mobile gaming industry," says Charles Cohen, CEO of Probability PLC. "We look forward to deepening our relationship with Glu as we seek to expand our regulatory reach to new markets worldwide."

This is going to be a revolutionary step forward for the convergence between social gaming and online gambling. While companies like IGT and Winner Casino have launched social gaming applications, this is the first time that a social gaming developer has jumped head first into the gambling world.

Glu Mobile’s move will likely inspire other social gaming developers to follow suit and we are eager to see the results of this gaming market shift.
