This week, Genesis Gaming released its new title Gods of Giza. The game features a classic theme, depicting Egyptian deities, and introduces a completely new bonus feature to its online slots gameplay.
Rotating Reels are something we’ve never seen in a slots game before, and we anticipate that Genesis Gaming has just started a new trend.
What Are Rotating Reels?
The reels feature a 4x4 format, so they can rotating clockwise and maintain the same configuration over time. So, during the free spins round, reels rotate freely.
After each free spin, the set of reels rotate once and the symbols will realign to create new winning combinations. The reels continue to rotate until they return to their original position, so players can trigger up to four winning combinations on a single free spin.
Genesis Gaming is very pleased with this feature. Scott Sims, Head of Global Design, says: “When designing this game, we knew we had found something really special in the Rotating Reels Free Spins Feature. Players will love anticipating the wins as the reels rotate in the feature. With 32 total evaluations in the feature—plus possible re-triggers—this game offers a new kind of excitement for players.”
We’re certainly inclined to agree. It’s not often that an online slots game brings something never-before-seen to the table.
And, The Rest of the Game…?
Gods of Giza is quite a fun game overall. The graphics are well-designed and the volatility is high enough that you’ll feel entertained for quite some time. However, if there were no Rotating Reels, Gods of Giza really would be just another online slots game. If Genesis Gaming decides to create another game with Rotating Reels, it would be great if it also included another base game bonus or off-screen bonus.
We would like to see Genesis Gaming include this feature in many more new games in the future. Since Gods of Giza is based on a classic slots theme, Rotating Reels would be a great addition to other classic themes like safari themes, space themes and travel themes.
We’re not entirely sure whether Genesis Gaming has patented this type of gameplay, so we can certainly see other developers adopting a similar type of bonus.
When IGT first introduced Tumbling Reels in DaVinci Diamonds, it wasn’t long before companies like Aristocrat, Net Entertainment and Microgaming launched their own versions.
Something similar is certainly going to happen with the Rotating Reels feature.
