Theme
Zoom is your traditional fruit machine with a modern spin. The symbols include all of the classics, like lemons, bells, 7s and cherries – on top of a vibrant backdrop with cycling neon colours.
Out of the all of the games that Thunderkick has released so far, this is probably the least original. When compared to titles like The Rift (time travel), Toki Time (unique anime creatures), Arcader (retro video games) and Esqueleto Explosivo (Mexican fiesta), Zoom seems a little bit lacklustre.
One thing that we did enjoy about this game is the soundtrack. It features a cheerful tune that blends into the background nicely. The winning chimes are also very chipper; so, this isn’t a game that will force you to mute the sound.
Format
There are 64 potential winning combinations in the new Zoom online slot from Thunderkick. This means that winning combinations are quite easy to come by. Betting is fixed on all 64 lines and players are offered a wide betting range between 10c and $100.
Gameplay
Zoom makes up for the unoriginal theme with some very unique gameplay. The reels are laid out on a 6x4 grid, which are further divided into smaller 2x2 grids. On these grids are where huge symbols will appear. They occupy the ensure 2x2 space, helping to increase the players’ chances of winning big and offering up much larger prizes.
This feature is triggered when the Zoom symbol lands on the reels. It transforms into a Massive Symbol, and grants the player one re-spin, where all of the other 2x2 grids continue spinning in order to create some very generous winning combinations. If a Massive Zoom symbol lands in four 2x2 grids that form a square, one Super Massive symbol will appear. This offers up even more impressive winning potential.
Our Verdict
Zoom is saved by its innovative gameplay, which really offers up an exciting online gaming experience. Aside from the theme, the main downside to this game is that there is no off-screen bonus feature. Players remain on the same set of reels the entire time.
More modern players will likely want a little something more. However, there is a lot going on the in base game, which is certainly enough to keep players entertained for a few dozen spins – at least, long enough to trigger a few Massive Symbol and Super Massive Symbol Re-Spins.
