At Slots Temple, our main focus is online and land-based slots games, but we’re always excited to see new and interesting innovations in the gaming market.
This week, bwin.party launched a new social sportsbetting application called Sportser. It seems to be the first of its kind, and we were excited to give it a try.
What Is Sportster?
Sportster is a social betting game, and operates much like any other social casino. You wager with play money – but instead of wagering on casino games and slots, you bet on actual football matches. It is quite a good idea, and there is potential for the app to become very popular.
“Sportster—Bet and Win is one of the first and most unique social sports betting games,” says Barak Rabinowitz, CEO of Win. We’re inclined to agree - at least, upon first glance.
The Format
There are two types of matches that you can wager on in Sportsters: real matches and virtual matches. They are basically what you would expect, as real matches are games that are actually played by real teams and virtual matches are fake games that only take place in the digital world.
The virtual matches do not take place in real time but you can watch them progress. Any time an important action occurs, the match alerts you and the betting suspended for a few seconds. The following bets are available for both types of matches:
- Full time
- Half time
- Double chance
- Handicap 1:0
- Handicap 0:1
- Half time and full time
- Next goal
- Total goals
- Correct score
Challenges
As is the case with most social gaming apps, Sportster offers you the ability to complete challenges, and earn points. As you complete challenges, you earn more cash to wager with.
There are other prizes available, such as wild cards and free bids, that help to improve your chances of winning.
Bet Race
Another unique feature in Sportster is Bet Race, which is a competitive betting game in which you face off against four other punters. You wager on 11 virtual matches and the player who is the most successful wins. It is quite an interesting take on sportsbetting, and both serious punters will really enjoy this feature.
Our Verdict
It’s a very good start, and we see a lot of potential for growth in the future. At the moment, you can only bet on football matches and the markets available are quite limited. However, there are plenty of leagues and matches to choose from to keep the average punter entertained.
