It’s a boy! The world has been eagerly awaiting the arrival of the Royal Baby, and he is finally here. In the weeks leading up to this joyous occasion, international bookmakers have made a mint offering markets relating to the new addition to the royal family. In honour of the event, Slots Temple would like to provide a list of the oddest odds ever offered.

The Royal Baby

In the weeks leading up to the birth, punters could wager on tons of different outcomes relating to the royal baby. From its date of birth to its sex to its name, bookmakers provided plenty of options for punters to choose from. One of the most popular markets is the baby’s name.

Since Kate and William have not decided what to name the little bundle of joy, there is still time to place your bets.

The most popular options for boys names are: George (2/1), James (5/2) and Alexander (8/1). You can also wager on several events that will take place in the baby’s future, including his first words.

The top options are: Papa (7/1) Mama (2/1) Nanny (8/1) or Bye-Bye (12/1). You can also wager on his future career, university choice and the age at which he will first be photographed at a nightclub!

Alien Encounters

During the London 2012 Olympics, hundreds of betting markets were offered. Most of them were fairly standard, but the one that stood out was the market relating to alien encounters.

Some bookmakers offered punters the chance to wager on whether or not there would be a UFO sighting at the Opening Ceremony for the Games.

During the event, there was speculation over whether or not a bright light was an alien ship or not. Since there was a lack of conclusive evidence, bookmakers refunded punters who had wagered on the market.

The End of the World

Last year, there was much speculation about the end of the world. December 12th, 2012 was supposed to be the End of Days – and bookmakers wanted to capitalize on the opportunity. Companies like Paddy Power and Ladbrokes actually offered odds on whether or not the world was going to end on that day!

At Paddy Power, odds of 5000/1 were offered. While this certainly seems like a joke, we are sure that some individuals placed wagers on the market.

However, if they had won – how would they have collected their winnings? They would have get lucky again – in order to be one of the few people to survive the end of the world.
