The Ice Bucket Challenge for ALS has become a huge viral sensation on the internet. We have seen plenty of celebrities take part in the challenge, dumping ice-water over their heads in support of a good cause.

The trend has spread to the general population and now gaming industry professionals are stepping up and getting involved in the Ice Bucket Challenge.

Net Entertainment

We always expected Net Entertainment to take part in the challenge, as the company is well-known for its fun employees. CEO Per Eriksson decided to take one for the team, dumping a bucket of ice-cold water over his head in the Net Entertainment offices.

He aimed to get plenty more gambling industry professionals involved by nominating Magnus Silfverberg (CEO of Betsson), Henrik Tjärnström (CEO of Unibet) and Gideon Bierer (Founder of Partis).

International Game Technology

IGT CFO John Vandemore and Director of Corporate Marketing Maarten Lobker also stepped up to the challenge. In their video, they stood outside of IGT’s headquarters and nominated members of IGT staff before getting dumped with water. If you take a look at IGT’s Facebook page, it is now full of several employees taking part in the ice bucket challenge.

Mr Green

We didn’t even know that Mr Green was a real person – but, he also took part in the challenge! He is usually just a character featured on the Mr Green online casino; however, his video featured a man in a green suit and bowler pouring water over his head.

In his blog, he nominated Owen Heary (Manager of Bohemian FC), Mikael Pawlo (Co Founder of Mr Green online casino) and everyone on the casino team.

Mountaineer Casino

You would expect that a casino operator would attempt to outdo everyone else – even during a charity campaign. Members of the executive team at the Mountaineer Casino filled a truck with 400 gallons of ice water and dumped it over their heads. They donated a total of $1000 to the cause and set a record for the most amount of water used in the ALS Ice Bucket Challenge.

It could be argued that the use of 400 gallons of water was a waste and completely unnecessary – but, it’s for a good cause, right?

We hope to see many more gambling firms taking part in the ice bucket challenge in the future. Companies like Microgaming, Aristocrat and WMS should certainly step up and support this worthy cause.
