When it comes to creating movie-themed slots, online gaming designers choose to base their titles on action-packed films. Movies like Star Trek, Lord of the Rings and Iron Man make for exciting gameplay – however, developers sometimes like to challenge themselves by basing their movie-themed slots on some unlikely films.

The first that comes to mind is Breakfast at Tiffany’s, based on the classic Audrey Hepburn movie. As a romantic comedy, it does not seem like the type of film that would make for exciting bonus games and fun gameplay. However, IGT has managed to make the Breakfast at Tiffany’s game quite interesting and engaging.

The slots game features 60 paylines and players have the option of wagering on Holly’s Game or Paul’s Game. In Holly’s game, Cat appears on the screen to award extra wild symbols or bonus cash. In Paul’s Game, they are presented with a typewriter. With unique touch screen technology, the game allows player to type away for cash prizes.

The game is also linked to IGT’s MegaJackpots network and offers up a four-level jackpot prize. Cryptologic contributes an unlikely theme for a movie slots game: Forrest Gump. It is classic film that is on just about every critic’s Top 10 list, but the dramatic nature of the movie doesn’t seem like it would be ideal for a game adaption.

Unfortunately, the game does not do much to prove us wrong. It is a much older game, so the graphics leave something to be desired and there is no distinguishing soundtrack. It does not include any off-screen bonus features and it does not incorporate any film clips from the movie.

It seems that the only link between the game and the movie is that the characters on the symbols resemble those from the film.

Cryptologic’s online slots game based on Ferris Bueller’s Day Off suffers from the same lack of imagination. However, the saving for both of these titles is that they are linked to a generous four-level progressive jackpot network. WMS’ Wizard of Oz slots also fall into this category.

Although fantasy themes are quite popular among online slots developers, something about making this Hollywood classic into a casino game just doesn’t seem right. However, WMS does a great job of making its Wizard of Oz slots engaging and exciting.

The four games in the series (The Wizard of Oz, Follow the Yellow Brick Road, Glinda Good Witch and Wicked Riches) are all linked to a generous progressive jackpot network.

Each slot machine also includes bonus rounds that are unique to their theme, so players will want to try each game in the series.
