Branded slots are a major trend in the online gambling market. Over the years, we have seen plenty of operators create games based on a wide variety of games, movies and television shows.
In fact, there has been quite a bit of crossover, as several developers have created games based on the same brand – such as Monopoly.
Both WMS and IGT have created Monopoly-themed slots games, and the Slots Temple blogging team will weigh them against each over to see which operator prevails!
Seven Monopoly Games From WMS
WMS certainly doesn’t live by the motto of ‘less is more’. When this developer has a great theme, it will milk its potential dry. Just like WMS has produced plenty of variations on the Wizard of Oz theme, it has also created many Monopoly slots. There are seven total:
- Monopoly Legends
- Epic Monopoly
- Monopoly Bonus City
- Monopoly Planet Go
- Viva Monopoly
- Super Grand Hotel
- Up, Up And Away
But, Is Less More?
IGT does not have a huge selection of Monopoly slots, but we have been impressed by each release. They are:
- Monopoly Plus
- Monopoly Pass GO
- MegaJackpots Monopoly
- Monopoly Big City
So, it begs the questions, are IGT Monopoly slots higher quality because the developer has spent more time on each release? Is it really quality over quantity?
No, More Is Definitely More
You would think that WMS’s individual Monopoly slots would suffer for the sake of the operator launching seven total. However, we were pleasantly surprised that all seven games are equally as impressive. Each one offers up multiple off-screen bonuses and vibrant, creative graphics.
Some of our favourite features are:
Monopoly Legends’ diamond-shaped reels: this is quite a new base game format that we are beginning to see in the slots market. Although there are fewer symbols on display, there are more chances for the player to win.
Epic Monopoly’s multiple reels: There are four sets of reels in this game with one main set and three smaller sets along the side. When bonus and wild symbols appear on the main reels, they are replicated on the three smaller reels to increase the player’s chances of winning.
Super Grand Hotel Tycoon Bonus: Four trains pull onto the screen and the player picks one to reveal passengers. They scramble across the game board awarding bonuses. It is quite cute, and a very interactive way to award bonus prizes.
Still IGT’s Monopoly Plus Remains a Favourite
Out of all of the games from both operators, IGT’s Monopoly Plus remains our favourite, particularly because of its Board Bonus Round during which you can collect property values and earn prizes from spaces like Free Parking and Community Chest.
It is certainly the most modern Monopoly slots game out there on the market, as it allows players to level up to earn boosts during the Board Bonus round and accumulate more money for landing on property.
It's like all of the best things from every Monopoly game rolled into one!
