The recent release of Deadpool in cinemas has got us thinking. This Marvel hero has been popular for years – so, when will we see an online slots game based on this character?

The Hero

Deadpool is the alter ego of Wade Wilson, an ex-military officer turned mercenary. When he discovers that he has cancer, he joins the experimental Weapon X program which not only cures his disease but makes him invincible. In the process, he is horribly disfigured and seeks revenge on those who ruined his life.

He is expertly trained in various forms of combat, which (when paired with his healing factor) makes him incredibly powerful.

The hero first appeared in New Mutants, Issue #98 in 1990. He has become very popular among comic book fans thanks to his sarcastic and twisted sense of humour.

The Film

The Deadpool film recently hit theatres, and has become a major success. Filmed on limited budget of just $45 million, it is already exceeding industry expectations by becoming the highest-grossing weekend for an R-rated film ever. It has been a long time coming, however.

A film based on the hero was announced in 2000 but several attempts to write the film were abandoned in 2004, 2005 and 2010. It wasn’t until 2014 that the movie industry finally decided that Deadpool would be made into an actual film. It was shot in just 45 days in 2015.

The film is about the origin of Deadpool and how he seeks revenge on his makers. It is a comedy-action film, that now has a 83% rating on Rotten Tomatoes. A sequel has already been greenlit.

So, what are the chances of a slots game based on Deadpool?

Although Deadpool has been a hugely popular Marvel character for decades, he has only recently gained widespread appeal thanks to the new blockbuster film starring Ryan Reynolds. Now that he is the star of his own movie, the chances of a Deadpool slot machine being released are beginning to look good.
