In Zulu Gold, ELK brings us on an expedition to Lesotho with their resident explorer Kane, as he ventures into the province of KwaZulu-Natal to search for a temple filled with gold. The symbols feature tribal drawings and various African animals like elephants, rhinos and buffalo.

Overall, the game has a stunning look to it that really draws players into the gameplay.

The Zulu Gold RTP is 95%. In the online slots world, we are starting to see lower and lower payout percentages – so, sadly, this is becoming the norm. Previously, the average RTP ranged from 96% to 96.5%.

How to Win

In Zulu Gold, players will experience the same type of format as the other Gold games like Zulu Gold and Tahiti Gold. In it, players are able to expand the number of ways to win from the default 4096 all the way up to 262,144.

This happens when you land a winning combination. An “avalanche” (also called a “cascade” in other slots) occurs and, not only do new symbols fall into the spaces where the winning symbols were, they also create a new row on top. This ultimately expands the number of ways to win in the game.

Special Symbols

There are loads of special symbols in Zulu Gold, each one performing a different function that offers players improved winning potential:

Colossal Symbols

All paying symbols, as well as the wild, appear as colossal symbols. They can occupy 2x2, 3x3 or 4x4 spaces on the reels and perform some pretty cool functions

• If there is a blank space beneath the colossal symbol, then the space is filled with symbols to match it.
• If a colossal symbol falls and any regular symbols of a smaller size are below it, the colossal symbol will smash them. It won’t destroy wilds, bonus symbols or symbols of the same size.

Zulu Stacks

To help you land wins and expand the reelset more easily, you can land Zulu Stacks. You can land high-paying symbols stacked two, three or four positions high.

Spreading Wilds

The golden lion wild symbol also plays a special role. When it appears, it will travel across the reels on each cascade in a single spin, leading a trail of wilds behind it.

Charged Wilds

These are wilds that look like Zulu Stacks but they are actually wilds with extra lives. These lives are only consumed when they are involved in a win. Otherwise, the stack remains intact.

Sophisticated Slot Design

What really stands out to us when playing Zulu Gold slots is the design. Not only are the graphics impressive; the aesthetic aims for authenticity.

In the online slots world, slot games set in Africa are usually very generic. In most games, you’ve got some marula trees, a bunch of safari animals and maybe a person dressed as an explorer. However, ELK wanted to go for something a bit different.

 Fun Features

Then, there are the features in the game that give you plenty to look forward to. The colossal symbols that return from the previous Gold slots bring some fun to the experience, although we wish we’d have seen more of the stacked symbols.

The increasing multipliers in the free spins bonus are another welcome edition. We see them a lot in Megaways slots, so it’s great to see ELK putting progressive multipliers to use in another type of slot with variable winning ways.
